Hyer is HOME, and we are getting excited about the 2017 Hyer Carnival!  Please plan to join us on  Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 11 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.   The Hyer Carnival is a favorite day for our students.  There will be lots of fun and games, prizes, the cake walk, confetti eggs, the MASH tent, the Hyer Store and food from Chick-Fil-A, Papa John's, Chip's and more!

Wristbands will be going home with your children next week and will also be available for purchase during the carnival.
THE 21 DAY CHALLENGE IS COMING - SIGN UP TODAY!
Let's encourage our students to participate i n the challenge of eating a healthy snack for  21 days straight!  The Huskies were the winners between the four HPISD elementary schools last year!!!  We were awarded $500 and a beautiful trophy to keep for a year - let's do it again this year! 
Registration begins TODAY, so please SIGN-UP HERE so your student can participate in the 21 Day Challenge.  More details will be announced soon.

PAPA JOHN'S PIZZA NIGHT
SEPTEMBER 28th
Make plans to order pizza for dinner on September 28th during our first Papa John's Pizza Night!  A portion of all purchases will benefit Hyer and will be a great way to feed your family while our Hyer moms are enjoying Home Sweet Home: Moms' Night Out. 
HYER HELPS AFTER HURRICANE HARVEY
The HYER KC CLUB is partnering with Gregg Elementary School in Houston to  provide basic school supply needs to their 580 students who were affected by  Hurricane Harvey.

The KC Club will host a school supply donation drive the week  of October 2-6 to collect the following :
  • BASIC SCHOOL SUPPLIES - paper, pens, pencils, crayons, glue, markers, folders, etc.
  • SCHOOL UNIFORMS - red collared shirts, khaki pants, shorts, or skirts to fit students ages Pre-K - 5th grade. Uniforms must be NEW, please.
  • GIFT CARDS to Office Depot, Staples, and Walmart.
Donation boxes will be located throughout the school near each entrance door.

DONUTS WITH DADS - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29th @ 7:15am
with Ladies Scots State Championship Soccer Team & Coach Brown
Dads and students are invited to breakfast in the Hyer Gym on September 29th.   The 2016 - 2017 Lady Scots Soccer Team finished their season undefeated at 27-0!  We hope you will come hear  their inspirational story and spend time getting to know other dads at the first Donuts with Dads event this school year.
DESTINATION IMAGINATION MEETING

STUDENT INDIVIDUAL PICTURES
The Mornings of October 10th, 11th, 12th
Please mark your calendars for the second week of October when Hyer students will have individual pictures taken by David Rubin Photography.  Next week, look for picture order forms to come home with your student and for an announcement detailing the schedule for each morning.  Please contact Kim Shelton in the Hyer office, sheltok@hpisd.org, if you have any questions about individual pictures.
Dr. Trigg  for an informative presentation and open conversation with parents at our first PTA meeting.   Thank you to all who attended!

Our 4th grade parents were treated to a fantastic night at the beautiful home of  Kristin and Andy Mitchell for the 4th Grade Parents' Party. Special thanks to  Courtney Gilbert and Jeannie Denton for planning such a lovely event, and  Paige Sachs and Kris Jefferies for their guidance.   We would also like to thank Paige and Marc Sachs for their incredible donation to the event.

One of the largest behind the scenes jobs this time of year is BSSU! Thank you to Amy McNulty and Ashley Blanchette for their diligent, accurate, and time consuming review and distribution of BSSU information.

Jackie Kirkham for all of her talents and many hats that she wears at Hyer. Our Cafeteria, Teacher Workroom, Lost and Found, and Aftercare Program run smoothly due to her ongoing commitment to Hyer.
