Fall Visit Day is Nov. 11 at FLCC
FLCC will welcome high school juniors and seniors and their families on Saturday, Nov. 11, for the annual Fall Visit Day. Check in begins at 8:30 a.m. with events running until early afternoon.

Students are encouraged to register online.

The day begins with an Academic and Student Services Connections Fair in which students can meet professors and staff who provide tutoring and other support services. Participants can discuss their specific interests and get individual questions answered. Representatives from the athletic department, financial aid, the Equal Opportunity Program, student housing, disability services, and student activities will also be available.

Fall Visit Day includes tours of the main campus and the adjacent residence hall, Suites at Laker Landing, as well as a panel discussion so high school students can ask current FLCC students about their experiences.

Visitors will have an opportunity to attend information sessions on the application and financial aid process, transfer opportunities, career planning, and assistance for students who have not yet selected a major. FLCC has launched a new advising model in which all students will have at least two advisors from the moment their application is accepted so they can begin planning their schedules well before classes start.

For more about FLCC programs, visit flcc.edu or call the One Stop Center at (585) 785-1000.

A faster way to a pharmacy degree

St. John Fisher College and Finger Lakes Community College have launched an agreement in which two qualified FLCC students will be guaranteed acceptance into the Wegmans School of Pharmacy.

While Fisher has long partnered with FLCC through a 2+2 agreement at the undergraduate level, this initiative marks the first time the college will offer a direct pathway to a doctoral degree program. It reduces the amount of time from 8 years to 6 years to get a pharmacy degree.

Students interested in this option are encouraged to attend Fall Visit Day or contact the One Stop Center at (585) 785-1000.

How to arrange a speaker for your class
FLCC has launched a Pathways Speakers Program to help high school students understand the connection between the curriculum and the real world of work and to provide teachers with curriculum-related expertise.

The program is meant to help students understand the full range of options available to them after high school.  Speakers will go directly to schools to give presentations in classrooms and small group settings. The list of speakers and topics is on the FLCC website at flcc.edu/pathways.

Teachers can contact the speakers directly through the website to arrange a mutually convenient day and time.
