 This past Friday night,
Vision FW competed against several other young professional groups in the Oktoberfest Olympics, hosted by the Trinity River Vision Authority at
Panther Island Pavilion. After several activities including stein hoisting and barrel racing, our Vision FW team took 1st place in the tournament! The team won bragging rights and $200 in gift cards that will be used for a celebration soon.

Days of wine & rib eye: The Prospective Ms. B has a hankering for wine. When her company scheduled a sales success dinner in the wine room at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House, she brought along a cot and didn't return to the B Mansion for three days. Wine selection is so good, the cocktail hours are longer than the eating hours. Don't be fooled, though. Mr. B, contracted to trade dish washing for leftovers, says Executive Chef Zach Martinez cooks a mean, charred, bone-in rib eye, almost pink and tender enough to be cut by a butter knife. (The steak knives haven't been washed, Mr. B!) B2B Insider buttered up General Manager Greg Kalina and he staked a reader to a dinner for two.
Homewood-bound: Irma-doomed relatives fled Florida at first light and flooded the B Mansion for three days. After Day 1, the Bs fled for the Homewood Suites - Fort Worth Medical Center. Homewood GM Justin Smith recognized the systems of weariness and frayed feelings for loved ones and saved the day when a suite became available. No more long stories of sorrow and sacrifice. Instead ... happy hour food and adult drinks. TV and Wi-fi. Large rooms, firm beds and soft pillows. Even misters, a putting green and BBQ grills by the pool. You know you want to escape and Justin has one-night stays for two readers.
 Everywhere a sign: Walk into a building. Count the signs. Elevators, bathrooms, closets, electrical, maintenance, floor and office numbers, company names and logos, fire safety, exits, name tags. On and on and on. Who does all those signs? If you ask Michele (not Klepto, but...) Klepser, it's Signarama Fort Worth. She's a bit biased, being an employee and a walking billboard / salesperson for the Foch St. firm. Michele vows Signarama can do whatever you want. "Whatever!" she said, "or I'm just not doing my job." Why not ask Michele to handle this 3-foot-by-6-foot hanging banner, digitally printed, full-color on one side.
Garnering success: Communities In Schools, celebrating its 25th anniversary during 2017, keeps kids in school. Approximately 98 percent of the time. That is how you spell s-u-c-c-e-s-s. CIS serves eight school districts in Tarrant and Parker counties and 47 schools, approximately 4,300 students. Demand for new CIS programs for school districts outstrips CIS' capacity to raise the needed matching funding and still maintain all existing sites. So, it fundraises, including the wildly wicked and wonderful Women, Wine & Shoes. You drink, you shop. There's a limit on the wine, but not the shopping. It all boots scoots at Ridglea Country Club Oct. 13. Rachel Peters has tickets for you and a gal pal.

 Lego lit 101: Powered by Play's Susan (Lego Lady) Chiasson is producing with Clearfork and the Fort Worth Zoo a free read-and-build program for kids. Clearfork reads a book about animals and their habitat, then kiddoes get to Lego their thoughts. August's zootopia had grew to more than 110 kids. Oct. 16 is your next chance.
Manya's mania: If you haven't heard from new Fort Worth Public Library Director Manya Schorr, you likely will. Her mantra? "I believe in the power of the library to transform lives."
He'll be banking online now: President Carter has expertly maneuvered the final hurdle and is headed to the retirement door. That's Tim, not Jimmy. His final day at Southside Bank is Sept. 29. Mark Drennan will take over leadership in this market.
No longer a dream ... this home: Year after year, owner/publisher Hal Brown has orchestrated the "Dream Home" for Fort Worth Texas magazine. This year's home, a 6,700-square-footer in Westlake, is going to be his own.
Umbrella policy: Pepper Sims, Pepper L Specialities promotional products, says umbrellas are being made and sold with handles that clutch your wrist, enabling hands-free for texting. She also says the closed umbrella has been inverted (closes up) so as not to get you wet and to stand on its own.

Football coach is a she? Marjorie Lewis was the first woman to cover the Dallas Cowboys. She was a sports reporter for the Fort Worth Star Telegram in the '80s. Now she is coaching, not reporting. Marjorie is a linebackers and defensive backs coach during the week for Texas Wesleyan's (re)-inaugural team and a game-day coach from the pressbox. "The losses (0-4) have been disappointing, but the guys have great attitudes and get after it every day," she said. "The job is challenging and all-consuming, but I love working with college kids chasing dreams."
Memory lane: The announcement that Stefan Figley has become President of Steamatic, Inc. (restoration and cleaning services) may have induced sweet memories for TCU and media mavens. Figley, a nationally ranked tennis star at TCU in the mid-'90s, will have responsibility for most operations and service. Older Worthians might remember his dad Preston, a giant in the public relations world while he worked 20-plus years for Witherspoon & Associates.
Newsy treat: Coconut Cream and Caramel DeLite. Alchemy Pops used that mixture to win the Cookie Master title of the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains' Desserts First event. Competitors had to use Girl Scout cookies in their recipe.
 She's bored, he's gored: Five years ago, Mr. B said goodbye to the third B2B Insider artiste in four years. They are supposed to make Mr. B look good and it wasn't happening. Hello Christine Gores. B guessed Gores might last eight weeks. He was wrong. Happy fifth anniversary, Christine.
Kudos: Tonya Veasey of OCG PR was recognized by The PR Council during its Diversity Distinction in PR Awards dinner. "Her leadership view and hiring practices promote diversity at every level.
