GOOD JOBS FOR MICHIGAN PROGRAM READY TO USE!
As a member of the Good Jobs for Michigan Coalition, the Sterling Heights Regional Chamber was proud to support efforts to create important job-attraction tools and is happy to announce that the Good Jobs for Michigan program is 100 percent ready to use! The goal of GJFM was to attract larger projects that will result in the most good-paying jobs while making a smart and strong business case for companies and remaining fiscally prudent to our state. Michigan's economic growth over the last six years is a testament to our dramatically improved business and tax climate, sensible regulation, world-class talent, strong quality of life and an eye to future trends shaping the global economy. The Good Jobs program helps fill a missing gap and ensures that our Great Lakes state can compete, fair and square, and that we're truly the place to be.

NIST 800-171 SEMINAR
Security Vitals is partnering with the Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce to present a FREE seminar to inform businesses and manufacturers about the NIST 800-171 compliance law on Wednesday, October 25. Manufacturers working with the Department of Defense must be compliant with defined cyber security requirements no later than Dec. 31, 2017. There are 7 key steps to help reach NIST 800-171 compliance. During this presentation, attendees will gain an understanding of the necessary steps for compliance, and, in turn, avoid losing government contracts, decreases in revenue and prevent job loss in Michigan.

FORMULATE YOUR WINNING DREAM TEAM
By Nick DiMaggio
With the start of basketball season this month, it's the perfect time to focus on building a great team. The phrase "dream team" gets thrown around a lot, but it's most commonly referenced when discussing the incredible collection of talent that was assembled by USA Basketball for the 1992 Olympics. While this formation of super athletes was daunting to opponents by individual ability alone, what made them truly special was their ability to work together and their recognition of roles. While the players could have grown egos and chose to maintain ultimate control, they saw the value in coming together and playing as a cohesive team to create greatness.

M-59 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT UPDATE FROM MDOT - WEEK OF OCTOBER 9:
With less than three weeks remaining in phase 1, we are continuing to work long hours. Last week, our electrical contractor was able to activate many of the new signals on our mast arms. Earlier today, we were able to reopen the turnaround east of Heydenreich. After paving, we will have our final lift of pavement on the two insides lanes of both eastbound and westbound M-59. In the near future, we will be placing traffic on these newly paved lanes as well as in the right-center lane. We will then close lanes periodically to finish the paving on the right two lanes and shoulder. When this happens, traffic will be reduced on M-59. This not only allows for the construction crews to build the roadway safely, but it also allows the paving contractor to pave continuously, which reduces the number of joints in the pavement. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to wrap this project up for the 2017 season.

Please check our website and social media pages for updates!
