Entrepreneurs, educators, students, suppliers and creators of all kinds will gather at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers on Oct. 16 for Arkansas Maker Summit 2017.
"Creating an integrated network of makers supports the idea behind making as a process for creating innovation by tapping into the expertise of a diverse population," explained Sam Dean, executive director of the Scott Family Amazeum. "Plus, it's a lot more fun when we all play together."
The summit begins with networking at 8:30 a.m., followed by breakout sessions from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The breakout sessions will look at makerspaces in different contexts: K-12 schools, extracurricular settings and business environments.
Joel Gordon, the Hub's executive director, and Jeff Amerine, founder of
Startup Junkie Consulting, will lead a session on making in small business, community and entrepreneurial settings. Joel will also share how making supports micromanufacturing in starting and scaling a business.
"We are excited to invite Innovation Hub to Northwest Arkansas to help advance the maker movement throughout the state," said Sam. "The opening of the Conductor at the University of Central Arkansas and the Garage at Arkansas State show how communities are supporting making."
