Your children brought home the Alive in Christ Faith Formation books they will be using this year
for Family Faith.
Each month the children are assigned two chapters in their books. It seems to work best to schedule a regular 20-30 minute time each week to do this together. Make sure your child completes the chapter review at the end of the chapter and brings his or her book back on November 1. (Second Graders just complete the pages in the chapter since there is no review page) The children will receive a "Bag Tag" for each chapter assigned and completed at home. I can't stress enough how important your involvement is to your children's faith development!
You will receive a Family Faithlinks email
like this
twice a month
. These emails will provide you with the lesson guides and activities you need to work with your children on the chapters you'll cover at home. You will also find what I hope will be helpful resources and some short videos for you (the adults) and your children that relate to the themes and concepts that are presented in the lesson. The resources below are meant to provide you with options. Scroll down to the resources suggested for your child's grade level and decide what works for you and your family. All of the clickable links will be in bright blue. The video links I include are always short and will be very helpful to children that are so media motivated these days.
As you use these links yourself and with your children, I want you to know that I always appreciate your feedback. Let me know what you find helpful and feel free to make suggestions! I will keep your ideas in mind as I continue to create these pages for you each month.
I am excited to share a wonderful new monthly resource with you from Our Sunday Visitor called
Family Faith On the Go.
This is a one-of-a-kind combination activity guide and support tool designed and written for busy families. It offers insightful, creative solutions to real life issues and interesting, fun ideas for the whole family to live the Faith. It is a seasonal resource and is intended to supplement the curriculum.
Blessings to you and your family as you begin this new year growing in faith together!
Our first unit is on Revelation-how God reveals himself to us. We can discover God's plan in His Word through Sacred Scripture, through our families, and through the wonders of creation. In our first session at church the children learned that people are called to care for the world God created.
I hope you and your family have some good conversations this week around caring for our world, energy use and your role in helping to care for our planet.
