Meet Mr. Mark H (History) Smith. We have two Mark Smiths on our campus- the other one Mark A. (Algebra) Smith teachers math. Mr. Smith is married to his high school sweetheart, Heather, who is a teacher at Hubbard Elementary, and they have two beautiful daughters, Ella (6) and Madison (4). "They make us laugh and smile everyday." He is in his 9th year at MP, and he teaches US History and is the sponsor of the Key Club. When asked what he likes most about his job, he said "I love it when the students begin asking questions for deeper understanding. Having the weekends and summers off are pretty good too." In his spare time he enjoys hunting, playing tennis, and golf. If he could go back in time, he would go back to 2006 because it would be the year before the first iPhone came out, and he would be able to invest a lot of money in Apple. If he did not have to sleep, with his extra time he would read more and use the time to catch up on his grading.  When people come to him for help, it is usually his students asking him for help with an assignment, or someone at his church who needs help with various things.  He said, "besides my Savior, it would definitely be my mom" who has influenced his life the most. "Grading papers and any time the Braves play teams on the west coast," are things that keep him up at night. In college, he spent several nights dumpster diving in order to find coupons to earn two free round trips to anywhere in the Continental US. He and his wife were able to go to Boston.

On October 21 and 22, in partnership with the Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety, the Driving Skills for Life program will be at the Atlanta Motor Speedway offering t he FREE training program that will focus on equipping teens with new skills in key areas that they tend to lack: hazard recognition, vehicle handling, space and speed management, and distracted and impaired driving.

Students who are planning to attend a four year college, must take the SAT or ACT and obtain qualifying score.  Mary Persons  is a testing site for BOTH tests. We are able to provide waivers only to juniors or seniors who participate in the free/reduced lunch program. Eligible students can see their counselor or Mrs. Miller to receive fee waivers.

SAT Registration: Go to www.collegeboard.org to register for the SAT. You must have a waiver code or credit/debit card to register. Cost without a waiver is $46.00 (no writing) or $60.00 with writing.

ACT Registration: Go to www.actstudent.org to register for the ACT. You must have a waiver code or credit/debit card to register. Cost without a waiver is $42.50 (no writing) or $58.50 with writing.

The FAFSA® is the application that students must complete to apply for federal student aid, which can be used to attend an eligible college or career school. Federal student aid includes Federal Pell Grants, federal student loans, and work-study opportunities. In addition to determining eligibility for federal student aid, many states, private organizations, colleges, and career schools rely on information from the FAFSA to determine eligibility for nonfederal sources of aid. 

ALL students must complete this form regardless of parent income.  The 2018 FAFSA application will become available  October 1st .  

The MP Academic Team will be hosting a quiz bowl tournament here at the high school on  Saturday, September 30th . Any student who needs volunteer hours for their clubs or organizations should email [email protected] by  Friday, September 29th , to make arrangements for  Saturday . You would be needed between  9:00 AM to 3:00 PM .

A chaMP shout out goes to our Varsity Competition Cheerleaders for winning 2 place by only a two point margin in the 4A division at White water cheer competition. They perform again next weekend at Ola High School in hopes of having another great performance.
