From Mrs. Rowley   autumn_leaves.jpg

How delighted we were to have an assembly on Monday with Fr. Roy Tvdrik, a Montfort missionary priest from Long Island, who was presenting to our parish on Marian devotion. The students gathered in the church on Monday to hear Fr. Roy's reflections on our Blessed Mother. We love to offer opportunities alike these to our students when they arise.

Scantron testing is continuing this week, with our 5th graders. Please keep our students in prayer as they test this week.

This week we also welcome Fr. Fisher and Fr. Hayes back to the classrooms for weekly lessons. The students love to have them in the classroom, giving the benefit of their knowledge and expertise!

Next Wednesday afternoon I will be leaving to join all the other diocesan principals on our annual retreat at Priestfield Retreat Center in West Virginia. This is a time for meditation, prayer and fellowship. Please know that I will be praying for the entire St. Ambrose School community during those few days.

Have a blessed week.

Raymond Arroyo Captivated St. Ambrose Students, Parents and Parishioners !

On Wednesday, September 20, the St. Ambrose PTO hosted internationally known, award-winning journalist, producer, and New York Times Bestselling author: Raymond
Arroyo.  You regularly see him as the lead anchor on EWTN News.  Raymond addressed students, parents, and parishioners in two back-to-back assemblies.  He had children intrigued and laughing as he explained the writing and research process that led him to his acclaimed Will Wilder book series for young readers.  We sang him Happy Birthday and he autographed copies of his book for students.  Following his time with students, Raymond met with St. Ambrose parents and parishioners to speak about his cherished friendship with EWTN's founder: Mother Angelica.  He spoke about his most recent book:
Mother Angelica Her Grand Silence: The Last Years and Living Legacy.  Raymond is a shining example of someone who is devoting his life to building up the Church in the world today and he served as a living witness for the St. Ambrose community in his visit to our campus.   Thank you St. Ambrose PTO for funding this special event!

School Gala- March 3rd

The Gala is only 5 ½ months away! It promises to be a fun evening with a St. Patrick's Day theme of "A Lucky Knight for St. Ambrose". Many volunteers equal a successful event for OUR school! What are YOUR talents? Please contact Cindy Hollcraft at [email protected] and let her know how you can help.

Don't forget to support our Gala t-shirt fundraiser! Orders are placed online at: https://www.customink.com/fundraising/st-ambrose-gala-shirt. Order now through October 4 th . They are great for the whole family. Kids can wear them on SOME early dismissal days - don't let YOUR child be the only one in uniform those days! Order yours today!
Fourth Annual Coat Drive

The winter weather wear collection will begin on Monday, October 2nd and end Tuesday, October 31st. We are doing this a month earlier this year.  We accept coats, gloves, hats, scarves, snowsuits and winter wear for all age groups.   We ask that you please donate only clean and in good condition items.  We want to donate what we ourselves would be happy to receive. We have had such wonderful donations in the past, but we want to emphasize the items need to be washed or dry cleaned (Zips is cheap!) before giving to our less fortunate neighbors.  Of course we also love to receive new items! There will be boxes in the entry and hallway of the school, and some of our students will be helping collect the items from each classroom.  Last year we took our fantastic donations to St. James the Greater Catholic Church in West Virginia - they were simply overwhelmed with your generosity.  This year we may team up, as we did 2 years ago, with St. Theresa Catholic Church in Ashburn as part of their very well organized Divine Mercy Outreach Program.  Thank you in advance and may this be a wonderful year for St. Ambrose School.

First Aid: Common Cold

Children can get eight colds a year - or more. The common cold sends more children to the doctor than any other illness. Most colds are caused by a specific type of virus found in the air and on the things we touch. The prescription for the common cold is simple: time, rest, and TLC.

Signs and Symptoms
  • stuffy or runny nose (may start out watery, then turn thick yellow or green)
  • itchy or sore throat
  • sneezing
  • cough
  • headache
  • mild fever
  • feeling tired
  • loss of appetite

Shout Outs!
A big Shout Out to Mani Tiwari. For years he has been a terrific coach and leader for our young athletes. He is encouraging and spends so much time making sure that they are prepared for their next adventure. Marian Savage took this picture this weekend at the developmental cross country meet. It shows his dedication and belief in every St. Ambrose student!
