Keeping Families Close at RMHCCIN
A Message from our CEO
RMHCCIN CEO, Michelle Study-Campbell, recognizes corporate partner Defenders, Inc., with a commemorative plaque
NextGear Capital CEO, Shane O'Dell, presents keynote speech to attendees.
Our friends and partners at Anthem, Inc., smile for a photo after receiving their commemorative plaque for their years of service and support to RMHCCIN.

Though summer-like weather is hanging on a little bit longer, Fall has arrived and with it our birthday! On October 14, RMHCCIN will celebrate 35 years of keeping families close . As we reflect on what 35 years has meant to us and the many families we have and continue to serve -- we can't help but stop to thank our supporters who have made it all possible. In this month's newsletter, you might notice the age-old adage " it takes a village " is a reoccurring theme. From community fundraisers and wishlist drives to volunteers and even our very own families helping to support one another  --  we are thankful to those who make our vision of nurturing a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage and joy possible.

Recently, we had the opportunity to recognize some of these partners at our 2nd Annual On the House event at the beautiful and historic Barnes and Thornburg. Be sure to check out photos from the event here and read below to see how these partners and so many others help keep families close each and every day.
Mission Moment: The Osmon Family Story

At just 22-months-old, Riley knew how to tell his parents, Karrie and Trent Osmon, that he was in pain.

"He did baby signs, and he would do [the sign for] hurt," Karrie said. "He wasn't really able to tell me where. He would just get really upset because he was trying to tell me but wasn't able to. When I went to pick him up or move him he would cringe and start crying, so I knew there was something going on."

It Takes a Village: Partner Spotlight
Each year, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana serves thousands and thousands of families. From passing out fresh McDonald's coffee to tired parents in waiting rooms to providing home-cooked meals and a safe and comfortable "home-away-from-home" --families look to us in search of comfort, care and respite. Our House was built on the idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child, and thanks to our wonderful partners we are able to make this possible.
Indianapolis Indians and McDonald's of Central Indiana

This summer we were excited to partner up with one of our  Founders Circle Partners, McDonald's of Central Indiana, and our friends at the Indianapolis Indians for two Superhero Nights at Victory Field!

Thanks to their support, two of our past RMHCCIN families were recognized on field and we were able to raise more than $12,000 through the auction of specialty jerseys to help keep even more families close! A big thank you to the Indianapolis Indians, McDonald's of Central Indiana and the wonderful McDonald's owners and operators who helped make this possible.

Honda Manufacturing

N othing says "home"  quite like the smell of freshly-baked cookies. During their Week of Service this summer, one of our President's Circle partners, Honda Manufacturing of Indiana helped support our families by preparing meals and treats in addition to their annual Adopt-a-Room partnership!

Donating your time and talent to the Ronald McDonald House can be a rewarding experience and a real gift to the families staying at the House. Whether you are looking for an ongoing commitment or want to share a special gift or talent on a short-term basis, there is a way for you to make a difference at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana! Current needs include but are not limited to:

Guest Service Volunteers (GSV)
GSV's are our front-line volunteers and often the first face our families see when walking in the door. Duties include checking families in and out of their rooms, answering the phone, receiving donations, light housekeeping, and assisting RMHCCIN staff with various projects. This is a reoccurring , individual volunteer opportunity. We ask that GSV's are able to make one three-hour commitment every 2 weeks.

Laundry Helpers
Volunteers are needed to assist in the laundering of guest room bed linens. Laundry helpers may assist individually or in groups. Volunteers must be comfortable with stairs and may be asked to lift and carry loads of up to 25lbs.

Meal Groups
We are in need of meal groups for both our House at Limestone (located on the IUPUI campus) and our House located inside Riley. RMHCCIN welcomes meal groups on a one-time or reoccurring basis. Additional dinner dates and meal group guidelines can be found here .
