It has been an especially eventful and exhausting month, but we're thrilled to announce that the first phase of the replacement of our lost barn has been accomplished. Jesse Brown, our framer, set himself and his crew the goal of having the frame finished before our fall trip to England and the Netherlands - and he succeeded with three days to spare! Although we'll be sad to miss some of the next phases of the project, we've been able to witness first-hand the raising of this massive structure.

Since we've been so focused on the barn, and since it has generated so many interesting photographs, we've decided to devote this newsletter to the project. Those of you who look at this newsletter for news of new stock will be disappointed once again, but we promise to include many new listings in the email that will follow our November 11 & 12 show. Thanks for your continuing patience.
Erecting the Frame

The Back Page

Our friends Sandy and Dennis Lively have left New England, but they have stayed in touch with us. When they learned that we planned to build a new barn, they sent us an oak peg that Dennis had made while studying timber framing in Massachusetts. Today the inscribed peg has been driven into the frame, where it will remain for the life of the barn. Before driving it home, we took this picture.
As always, thanks for keeping in touch.
