Here's the direct link to the registration page: http://www.itsyourrace.com/event.aspx?id=6292

You can register in person at the event on September 30. Registration opens at 7:00 a.m.

Registration is $50 per adult walker/runner, $20 ages 12-17, $5 ages 1-11.
Cash, checks, credit cards will be accepted for on site registration.

FUNDRAISE or DONATE online via CrowdRise.
You can make a donation on the main event page or set up your own page (it's easy!) to send out to your friends, family, and network. Get a team together (some teams wear fun t-shirts or costumes) and see how much money you can raise. This is a great way to show support for a loved one with breast cancer.

DOUBLE YOUR DONATION
As in years past, the East Bay Community Foundation will match online donations if we are able to raise $15,000 online through CrowdRise. This is a huge boost to our programs. Let's start building momentum -- we are still under $1000 (last week of August). We have made our goal in the past -- let's do it again

Thank you for your support.
We hope to see you there!

At this fun and inspiring community event, we celebrate breast cancer survivors, remember those we have lost, and raise money for the services and products that HERS Breast Cancer Foundation provides. This year marks our 18th Annual Walk/Run!

Want some more details? Read all about the event in our official press release:

Sharing this release is a great way to show your support and get more people to participate and fundraise. (Hint, hint.) Our   Walk/Run page is a great resource also.

Where Do Your Donations Go?

We are so g rateful for the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and volunteers. It's a busy time of year for us here at HERS, as we get ready for the Walk/Run and October's ce l ebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It's important to take a step back and r e member what it's all about.

HERS wants to be a "soft place to fall" for women who have undergone treatment for breast cancer. At our program stores in Fremont and Pleasanton, we provide expert services and specialty products that help women feel whole again. We make these products affordable by managing insurance claims, granting discounts, and providing goods at no charge when clients do not have financial resources to pay out of pocket.

$50 provides a specialty bra

$60 provides a post surgical garment

$85 provides  a lymphedema sleeve

$150 provides a wig

$200 provides a prosthesis

Your donations enable us t o continue this vital material support and to hire and train a support staff of certified Breast Care Specialists to provide expert fittings and help selecting products. You can  learn more about our programs  on our web site.

For the rest of Septe mber and October, we are raising mone y online at Crowdrise. By donating online  before the end of October, you can
e nsure that your donation is doubled: the East Bay Community Foundation has generously offered to match donations up to $15,000! Every little bit counts.  Here's the link, feel free to share!  https://www.crowdrise.com/hersbcfwalkrun2018

As always, thank you for your support and generosity. We couldn't do it without you.

Meet our Special Guest, Miss Intercontinental USA

Miss Raquel Basco is the national titleholder for 2017 in the Miss Intercontinental USA pageant. She has graciously offered to join us at the Walk/Run in support of breast cancer survivors and HERS programs. Join us in giving her a warm welcome to the HERS community.

Raquel Basco is 22 and currently resides in San Francisco. She has had the privilege of being a first generation American native in her family, while still holding onto her Filipino roots and being fluent in Tagalog. She believes that knowledge, hard work, passion, and a proper education is the only way we can make a difference in this world. She holds a degree in theatre and psychology. Raquel is currently pursuing a degree in business marketing and a minor in multicultural studies with the intention of running a successful charity on the international level.

Her purpose is to be an active member in her community by sharing her experiences and giving a voice to those struggling with mental health disorders. At a young age, Raquel was diagnosed with anorexia; the leading cause of death in mental disorders. After two years of treatment she learned the importance of self love and how to stand up for herself. She currently speaks at high schools about mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, while also finding new ways to combat bullying in schools.

She believes that a woman's duty in this world goes far past looks and traditional gender roles. Rather, it should be focused on how we can contribute to society. She hopes her time as Miss Intercontinental USA can further empower her international efforts in charity work.

Raquel has started a private charity called "Balik to School" in Tondo, Manila that provides children with school supplies. She is also affiliated with a nonprofit organization that provides orphans in Ghana a home and education along with immediate access to medical healthcare services. Locally, she works with The City Eats which is based in San Francisco, CA. This group gathers every month to package and personally distribute food to the homeless.

"We are all real people at the end of the day. The crown does not define you, the power lies in the work and the love you put out into the world." - Raquel Basco
