This Week at the Cathedral
Please Wash Your Hands
The current outbreak of Hepatitis A is providing a learning experience for us all. We have learned that hand sanitizer is not effective against the virus: It is necessary to wash the virus off your hands with soap and water. Therefore, we are discontinuing the hand sanitizer use in the nave and urge you to wash your hands before and after worship, especially if you shake hands or handle food. Our staff has begun using bleach in their cleaning routines and are wearing gloves for all food handling for the foreseeable future. We are also keeping our first-floor bathrooms open throughout the day for those in need, as our contribution to the city's increased focus on hygiene. If you find a bathroom in an unsatisfactory state, please call the sexton number, 619-977-5196, to report it.  For more information about the outbreak and how to avoid infection, see the County of San Diego Health Department website .

Welcome our New Missioner for Latino Ministry!
On September 25, the Rev. Carlos Exposito will begin his ministry at the Cathedral, caring for those who attend the Misa and reaching out to the Latino community. Carlos is Cuban, and arrived here in the spring after waiting several years to join his wife Cristina Borges, who pastors St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in National City. Before he was ordained priest in 2008, Carlos had a career as a professor of English. After ordination, he served in several parishes and as a seminary professor. He's also a graduate of the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Washington DC, with a focus on contemplative prayer. Carlos is overjoyed to be called to serve the Latino members of St. Paul's and to be joining in our ministry of reconciliation. He will serve from time to time at our English-language services, but his position is very part-time, so he will spend most of his time with our Latino members.
