MCS
Heroes of the Week

Sharee Pfaff
& Terri Rodriguez

MCS has initiated a new "Hero of the Week" program to recognize one Middle School and one Elementary staff for heroic efforts. Staff members have the opportunity to write a "Hero Highlight" about one of their colleagues at any time during the week. Our Staff Heroes will honor other Hero peers with words of encouragement, support, praise and joy! On Tuesdays, Administrators will randomly select two "Heroes" from the Hero box of written notes and, along with the affirmation of their colleagues, they will enjoy a convenient parking spot for the entire following week. All notes will be kept in the Hero box for possible future selection.

Our first four Heroes this year are Mrs. Biancalani and Mrs. Harrison, our amazing Principals, and Mrs. Pfaff and Mrs. Rodriguez for their incredible efforts over the summer in preparing the Maker Space for MCS!

Speaking of the MCS Maker Space
If you have maker type items in your cabinets to discard or donate, please send them our way. We can use items such as straws, skewers, toothpicks, craft  supplies (craft duct tape, pom poms), buttons, cotton balls, point pens, tools, etc. Use your imagination! Please do NOT go out and purchase anything.

You may drop off these items at the front desk. Thank you!

Elementary Chapel - What does JOY look like?
What does JOY look like? Mrs. Biancalani challenged our elementary students to consider this question in light of their own lives. Because God is the author of all good things, JOY is like a gift. It is one of the Fruits of the Spirit that show outward action in acts of love and service.

She shared a video of children telling their practical ideas of love and service to others.  You may view the video on Youtube at this link

Ask your child about the silly pictures Mrs. Biancalani used to illustrate what JOY feels like in the categories of Joy FULL, Joy FEAST, and Joy FUN!

We Love Our New Elementary Students
Mr. Biancalani and Mrs. Tabb enjoyed a joy-filled lunch with our new elementary students today. We are grateful for each child and pray that they will have a wonderful year in the Lord.

Latest 30 - 30 Story - The Darrow Family
Have you heard about MCS's "30 Stories for 30 Years?" This year marks Mariners Christian School's 30th Anniversary!  At our 2017 Spring Gala, we began celebrating 30 years of the MCS mission of "building a firm foundation through Christ-centered education" through individual stories.  There are countless stories to tell - from current students and alumni to founders and grandparents - all telling of the legacy of God's work throughout MCS history.  You can find these stories on all MCS Social Media channels with #MCS30.

Check out the latest story featuring the Darrow Family as well as stories you might have missed over the summer!

We are Grateful for MCS Grandparents
The MCS Community includes not just our current families, but also important extended family members such as beloved grandparents. We know that grandparents often play a highly influential and positive role in our students' lives - from driving carpool and helping with homework to mentoring and care-giving. Grandparents can be tremendous role models for young people.....

Our primary contact for MCS Grandparent volunteers is our new Director of Advancement Barbara O'Brian. If your grandparent(s) would like to speak with someone at MCS directly about opportunities for involvement, please feel free to contact her at [email protected] anytime.
