Downtown Trick or Treat
Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls will be stalking downtown Burlington again for Trick or Treat on Friday, October 27 from 4 to 6 PM. This event is a huge draw and a wonderful goodwill gesture to area children and families. Last year's Trick or Treat drew record crowds; with good weather, we can expect well over 1000 costumed kids! Thanks to all those business owners who welcome them.
Downtown Coffee & Conversation
The next Downtown Coffee & Conversation will be Wednesday, October 4 at 8 AM at the Gallery Lounge, 301 Jefferson. We'll be discussing this year's Small Business Saturday, and you can update your neighbors with your latest news as well. All downtown business and property owners, employees, and residents are welcome, as well as Downtown Partners volunteers and board members. The Coffee & Conversation is organized by the DPI Business Development Committee.
Business Succession Workshops Planned
Are you a small business owner? If so, it's never too early to start planning for what will happen to your business when you're ready to retire. Downtown is home to dozens of great small businesses, and DPI wants to see them continue on. The Small Business Development Center at SCC's Center for Business and Industry is holding two free business succession planning workshops at 8 AM and 3 PM on October 18 at RiverPark Place. For information or to register, call Janine Clover at 319-752-2731 x8103.
144 Envelopes - Your Support Is Appreciated!
Downtown Partners board members are approaching area individuals and businesses for the annual 144 Envelopes fundraiser. Deery Brothers Toyota is sponsoring our special thank you reception for all donors and their guests at the Historic Tama Complex the evening of October 10 with food, beverages, live music, and a silent auction. We hope you'll show your support for DPI's many activities by contributing at a level that is meaningful to you. If you have questions or would like to contribute, contact Downtown Partners at 319-208-0056 or [email protected] . Together we are making great strides!

Start Planning Now - Lighted Holiday Parade
Downtown Partners' Lighted Holiday Parade will take place on Jefferson Street on Saturday, November 25 at 5 PM. Although it seems like a long way off, it's not too early to start planning your entry! This year's theme will be "North Pole Fantasy." Download the parade entry form at GreaterBurlington.com

The Latest News...
  • At long last - the reconfiguration of the 200 block of Jefferson will begin this week! The built-in planters will
be removed, and the curbs will be cut back to increase
the parking and make that block the same as the rest of Jefferson. The City expects the project to take 4 to 6 weeks; although the street will be closed during construction, the sidewalks will remain open. The
happy result will be 14 new parking spaces!
  • A big thanks to the vendors, the volunteers, and market manager Jerry Johnson for another successful season
of the Jefferson St. Farmers Market! The market accomplishes so much - it promotes healthy eating and lifestyle choices, empowers entrepreneurs, strengthens local economic and environmental sustainability, acts as
a business incubator, supports downtown merchants, and provides social and cultural activity downtown for 22 straight weeks. Downtown Partners is especially grateful to Two Rivers Bank & Trust for making the market possible.
  • The newly updated Downtown Shopping and Dining map and directory has been distributed; it can also be downloaded at   GreaterBurlington.com/downtown/shop-dine-discover.
  • Revised parking times and lease rates for public lots are in the works, but they will not be implemented until new (and MUCH improved) signage is posted. We'll keep you updated.
