Parent Guide to the Personalized Learning Platform
Teachers in Grades 6, 7, and 8 are currently orienting their students to the Personalized Learning Platform (PLP). The PLP works like a "digital Trapper Keeper" that includes resources and tracks progress.  By September 12, the PLP should be "live" in all core courses.

Ask your student:
1) Do you have courses that are on the PLP?  Which ones?

2) Would you show me how you log in and what you see when you do? *We recommend using your student's log in information to access the PLP on an ongoing basis. That way, you are able to access all documents outside the platform, such as those in Google Drive.

3) Can we look and see what is in each of these sections named here on the dashboard to the left of the screen?
(WEEK, YEAR, PROGRESS, COLLEGE)

4) What is the "Blue Line?"

Good to know: The "Blue Line" is in the YEAR section. It shows the current date and marks time as weeks go by.  It does NOT move on weekends or days when we know most students will not be working on their courses. For instance--the Blue Line will not move when the 6th graders are at Mohican, the 8th graders are in DC, or NEOEA Day (October 13). Students can, of course, access and work on their materials and tasks.  These days bring increased opportunities for catching up or forging ahead.

Remember: 70% of your student's work (and class time) is connected to hands-on project-based learning (PBL).

Tip: Discuss how often and when you and your student will sit down to look at and discuss materials and progress shown in the PLP.  What schedule you establish will depend on your student's strengths and challenges.  Your student's mentor and teachers can advise you about frequency.

Be concerned if.... after the PLP is "live" for a week or two and...
- In the WEEK section, you cannot see that your student is adding goals under most or all of the days.
- In the YEAR section, your student cannot show you what work in either or both the first Project and first Power Focus Area is underway.

We invite you to set up a one-on-one meeting with Principal Mohr, Mrs. Walsh, or any of your child's teachers should you have questions/concerns.

Please call the middle school office at (440) 365-3510 to schedule at your convenience.

We are also happy to address any questions or concerns with the new daily s

chedule format, new MacBooks, Mentoring, Facilities Project Update, and Student-Led Conferences.
