CROP Walk Update
Thank you to all our CROP walkers!  Our convivial walk around the Oxford community included more than 800 participants and raised more than $2000.

For nearly 50 years, CROP Hunger walks have ensured that more and more people around the globe have access to nutritious, sustainable food sources.  From providing agricultural training in Indonesia to combating droughts in Nicaragua or stocking shelves in hundreds of food pantries across the United States, these walks help end hunger by raising funds to support local food programs and the international anti-hunger work of Church World Service.

This is one way we put our faith into action - everyday!
Breakfast and a Book - Born a Crime

Trevor Noah is coming to Miami University for Family Weekend.  This visit presents us with an excellent opportunity read and discuss Noah's memoir of growing up in South Africa, Born a Crime.  With characteristic insight and humor, he leads the reader through his experience of growing up under apartheid and then coming of age in the post-apartheid era.  Today, Trevor Noah may be best known as the host of the Daily Show on Comedy Central.  Just as his identity and life story transcend stereotypes, this compelling memoir holds together the personal and universal, spiritual and secular.

You are invited to join Pastor Lawrence to discuss Born a Crime at Bob Evan's restaurant on Saturday, September 30 at 8 a.m.  The printed and audio book formats are available through booksellers as well as the Lane Public library.  All are welcome to Breakfast and a Book as we engage this memoir that promises to stimulate great conversation.

Progressive Christian Campus Ministry (PCCM)

"How can *I* help the PCCM"

Our launch was a success and our ministry is growing.
If you'd like to be involved here are a few, simple ways:

* We cook & we eat: If you have a favorite dessert or dish you'd like to provide for a Saturday meal, that would be wonderful. Our students always appreciate fresh-from-home goodies. Shoppers are also welcome. We can provide a list and reimburse you if you'd like to swing by Kroger and then drop off supplies for our meals.

* Scooch out of your comfort zone: If you see a college student in worship, go up and say hello. Then, go that extra wee-bit and invite the student to accompany *you* to a Saturday evening worship service.

* "We Are Family": As our ministry grows with more and more students joining us, we will be asking members of our church to become a "home away from home" family. This can be as little or as much as you and the student are comfortable with. We want them to have that home feel where someone near by has shown that they care.

* Worship~Pray~Eat: This is what we do and you are invited and welcome to join us. We're an informal gathering where all of all are welcome. We also appreciate your prayers for our continued growth and success.

We are PCCM (Progressive Christian Campus Ministry) and we are on our way!
October 1 for World Communion Sunday, all youth and children are asked to meet in the narthex to join in the procession of the elements at the start of the service.

October 29 for Reformation and Heritage Sunday all youth are asked to meet in the Narthex to join the bagpiper and banner procession to start the service.
CCNS

The second full week of school has been busy, exciting, educational and adventurous. We were able to meet new and familiar faces in the C.C.N.S Classroom. We are continuing to grow in size, as we plan to add another child to the Monday, Wednesday and Friday group! As of now, we have a total of 24 children enrolled in C.C.N.S. This week we focused on the letter B "Bubbles & the Bible" and letter C "Colors & Creation".
Living Into Hope
We do not draw people to Christ by loudly discrediting what they believe,
by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are,
but by showing them a light that is so lovely that they
want with all their hearts to know the source of it.
