LC Celebrates
75th Anniversary

Join the fun as Lawrence Central High School celebrates 75 years of excellence. To kick off the event, Co-Grand Marshals, Paige Wyatt and Caroline Hanna, will lead the Homecoming Parade, which begins at Belzer Middle School at 2:15 pm. The parade will make its way to the Skillman Stadium at Lawrence Central and will be followed by a pep rally.

Starting at 4:30, there will be a tailgate in the southeast parking lot of the stadium. Look for the Foundation's big orange tent and visit us during the tailgate. If you are an LC alum, get your "bling" and a wristband to get in the hospitality area after the game.

The LC Bears will take on the Center Grove Trojans at 7:00 pm. Alumni are invited to sit in a special section of the stands during the game and join in post-game hospitality in the end zone.

The general public is invited to tour Lawrence Central and the new stadium on Saturday, September 23. Meet in front of the building at 10:00 am.

LT Alumni are the best!

Cori Korn Executive Director
MCIT Brings Back
Former LT Students As Staff
Lawrence Township is so fortunate to have so many dedicated educators, many of whom are alumni. This month we highlight the seven McKenzie Center for Innovation & Technology (MCIT) staff members who have their roots in LT.

The "family atmosphere" is what Wayne likes about teaching Computer Science I & II at MCIT. His mom taught here for a long time so the entire staff is like family so it felt right when he started teaching in 2014.

After high school, Wayne continued on to Iowa State and IUPUI before becoming a teacher. The classes he took at MCIT prepared him for college; classes like Intro to Engineering & Design, A+, Net+, Server+, Security+, and CCNA. Wayne's favorite memory when at MCIT is his interdisc "virtual field trip" project his junior year. Now that sounds like a cost effective way to see the world!

Bryan Brumfield, Lawrence North Class of 2005
Recently, Bryan relocated back to Indianapolis and became the new Automotive Service teacher at the Ed Martin Automotive Group Automotive Careers Training Center at MCIT after Donnie Sheets retired.

After completing the Automotive Service program at what was then named McKenzie Career Center and graduating from Lawrence North and completing an internship, Bryan continued working in the automotive field. He became master certified with BMW and Mini Cooper. While at McKenzie, Bryan's favorite memory was taking the Auto Service Training classes with Mr. Sheets.

When asked what Bryan likes about being back at MCIT, he stated that "Lawrence will always be "home" to me and being able to give back to MCIT and its students after I got so much is great!"

Claudia is currently a Cosmetology teacher at MCIT. After graduation from LC, Claudia attended beauty school and then began working as a licensed stylist in the Castleton area.

Fourteen years ago, she began teaching at MCIT. Claudia enjoys working with the students and reconnecting with former classmates who are now coworkers or parents of current students.
Claudia loves giving back to her community as evident with her involvement in LT and beyond. LTSF appreciates all that Claudia does as a volunteer on the Foundation's annual Celebration Planning Committee.

Nancy Komenda-Rapp , Lawrence Central Class of 1979
Currently, Nancy serves as the Treasurer for MCIT. When asked what she likes best about working at MCIT, she says that "MCIT brings out the best in the students & staff!"

One of Nancy's favorite memories from high school is the homecoming parade and building floats - something that many students from Lawrence Central are experiencing this week.

After high school, Nancy attended IU Bloomington and has  worked for the MSD of Lawrence Township for 22 years. Nancy's family has also been a part of MSDLT. Her husband, Mark, graduated from LC, and all three of their children are LN grads.

Clarence McGowan, Lawrence Central Class of 1992
Clarence has been teaching Collision Repair at MCIT since 2012. When asked what he likes about working in LT at MCIT, Clarence stated, "I have never forgotten what McKenzie and the former teacher Lindsay Clark has done for me. I want to "payback" what McKenzie and the township has given me."

When Clarence took these classes, McKenzie was still housed at the south end of Lawrence North. After graduation, Clarence worked in collision repair facilities and worked his way up to shop management within shops conducting up to $400,000 per month in revenue.

While in school, favorite pastimes included LC football and basketball games. Now he spends his time with his family racing flat track motorcycles.

Frank attended LC long before the days of LN and MCIT. One of his favorite memories from high school is participating in the musical, "Brigadoon".

Since the fall of 2015, Frank has been instructing the Titan Cadet Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, the United States Air Force Auxiliary at MCIT. When asked what he likes about being back in Lawrence Township and specifically at MCIT, Frank replied, "I am always pleased to be associated with McKenzie, and frequently amazed at what is accomplished there."

In his spare time, Frank and his wife are directors of the Family History Center in Fishers, where they pursue and share their hobby of genealogy and family history.

Currently, Warren teaches 3 Business classes at MCIT - Preparing for College and Careers, Principles of Business Management, and the very popular Sports & Entertainment Management. He says that helping our LT students achieve some of their personal and school goals is what he likes best about being back in Lawrence Township and at MCIT.

During high school, Warren was a member of the LN Basketball team when they won back-to-back IHSAA State Championships and 3 Regional Championships. He says that one of his favorite high school memories is walking across the graduation stage with his basketball teammates, friends, and peers.
