Car Decals 'R' Us!

Each year I am required by the City to remind you that every vehicle that regularly comes to campus must display either an RHP or Renaissance decal, clearly visible (i.e. not behind a tinted window) on the rear driver's side of the car. We must all comply with this requirement as part of our use permit and, thus, as part of our ongoing business license and school accreditation.

And this year we are offering an upgrade through the generous donation of a new family: magnetic decals! So, if you you'd prefer not to have your decal on the glass, you can now affix one to the metal of the trunk, and . . . Voila! Compliance! Just pick one up from the front office.

Other traffic requirements, external to campus, are that cars must not cut through local side streets (Leesdale, etc.) from Western Avenue to avoid the light at PV Drive North, and we must not drop off or pick up students on the street. Please respect these rules. You will have learned by now that your own timing for drop-off in the morning dictates whether or not you will be directed to U-turn by the West Wing before joining the line. We cannot cause backup on PV Drive North during those few minutes (usually between 7:45 and 7:55 a.m.) when most people arrive. So please follow Mr. Hammond's and Mr. Hagee's directions, and do NOT drop off in any area before the yellow speed bump, and do maintain patience, courtesy, and safety at all times.

Drive as if your child goes to school here!

Marymount California University

This Wednesday, Director of College Counseling Burnadean Dyment and Assistant Head of School David Maher met with Dr. Lucas Lamadrid, president of Marymount California University. At their meeting, the three signed an agreement which allows seniors graduating in good standing from Rolling Hills Prep to automatically matriculate to Marymount if they choose.

The understanding provides an extraordinary post-secondary opportunity for RHP students during the critical and formative high school and secondary years and solidifies a growing partnership between the two neighboring institutions.

Elliot Wang

"However, just when I finished changing myself, now it's almost time that I have to leave. It seems like yesterday that I went to a class without my backpack. But two hundred days from now I will be starting a new journey toward college and will be saying goodbye to my friends and teachers.

Maybe a year from now, I will be in my dorm room, dealing with homework and loneliness. The students and teachers in RHP will no longer be at my side, but the spirit of RHP will be in my heart. That spirit is along the way, you can cry, but you can't turn back."

Leah Taylor

"I promise you no matter what you are going through right now everything will get better. No matter how badly you are hurting and you feel like nobody is there, somebody will come around and pick you up. Surround yourself with people who make you happy. High school goes by fast so make the most of it. Don't dwell on the past. Think about the now and focus on your future not your past."
