Did You Make Johnny Cakes at Harvest Festival?
For over 20 years, thousands of visitors of all ages have been making this New England staple at our Harvest Festival. They grind corn (left), prep the mixture, and watch as the batter is cooked over an open fire. The cakes taste great, but also help young learners understand where their food comes from.

As a member of the Vermont Farm to School Network, we're excited to announce Farm to School Gatherings scheduled statewide
throughout October! Anyone interested in connecting students, cafeterias, farms, and communities are welcome to attend: build local connections with peers and Farm to School practitioners, access resources, and find support for your work.

Vermont's Summer Meals Feed Kids 12 Months of the Year
VT-FEED, VT Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets, and Hunger Free VT joined to support the Summer Meals program, feeding kids at 293 sites statewide to ensure access to healthy food year-round. Read the stories of the sites.
VT-FEED is a Farm to School project of Shelburne Farms & NOFA-VT.

Reinventing the Wheel Program
Join Bronwen and Francis Percival's as they share their newest book,
Reinventing the Wheel, exploring what has been lost as raw-milk, single-farm cheeses have given way to factory production. But the Percivals are optimistic: cheesemakers are exploring the techniques of their great-grandparents and new scientific discoveries are "reinventing the wheel."
