Theatre opens its 43rd season with
You Can't Take It With You, a play about one of the most harmonious, dysfunctional families you'll ever encounter. The show runs from September 28 through October 8 on the Festival Playhouse mainstage and you can get your tickets
here. I'm looking forward to the first play of a fabulous season.
This year's Model United Nations recruiting session is now open! Model U.N. is open to students in good academic standing from all majors and colleges. No previous experience is required. For 38 straight years, Wright State's delegates have earned top awards at the National Model United Nations Conference - a winning streak unmatched by any other university. Students can sign up for an interview and pick up a hard copy of the Model U.N. Team application in the School of Public and International Affairs office, 325 Millett Hall. The application must be turned in at least 48 hours before the scheduled interview (October 2-6). For more information, contact Vaughn Shannon or visit

John Feldmeier
,
Political Science
, has stepped down as Pre-Law Advisor. We thank him for his service, which has included exemplary advising of students interested in a law career across a wide spectrum of majors, connecting with internal and external constituencies, and helping students prepare for LSAT exams. John's experience as a lawyer allowed him to be an important resource for his students.

The new Pre-Law Advisor is Sean Wilson, Political Science. Sean holds both a Ph.D. and J.D. from West Virginia University. He teaches courses in American government, the Criminal Justice System, the American Presidency, and a very engaging online section of the General Education course Power and Politics. He is the author of The Flexible Constitution, and his second book, on Wittgenstein, is forthcoming. Sean has already begun advising Pre-Law students and is working on an agreement with the University of Dayton Law School which would allow an accelerated path through law school for qualified Wright State graduates. |
Many people have been hard at work preparing for a fun and engaging Homecoming Weekend September 29-October 1. We hope to draw many alumni back to campus, plus current students, faculty, and staff are welcome to participate as well. There are educational and fun opportunities on Friday including a Trivia Night in the Apollo Room. CoLA has a donor-funded table at Trivia Night, so if you are a trivia buff and would like to participate, please let me know. Saturday includes a Homecoming Festival with a Chili Cook-off and various sports events. Visit the
Homecoming website
to learn more. Saturday and Sunday features Alumni College, with courses offered by
faculty on a variety of subjects. Saturday's topics include economics, politics, chemistry & explosions, and DNA. Sunday courses will be focused on Wright State history in honor of the University's 50th anniversary.
CoLA has a new social media intern this fall, and she is off to a great start. Jasmine Milum is a senior pursuing a degree in Mass Communication. Graduating spring 2018, Jasmine aims to work in the public relations industry. She finds plenty of ways to perfect her skills with different organizations on campus, assisting them with social media and brand identity. Having graduated from Sinclair Community College with an Associates of Communication Arts, Jasmine chose Wright State because of the simplicity of transferring, the variety of courses in the Mass Communication degree, proximity to home, and welcoming and diverse environment. Jasmine manages CoLA's Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts, as well as the social media accounts for CELIA and ARTSGALA. You can find her in the dean's office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10-12, so feel free to say 'hello' if you see her, or send her an email if there is something you would like her to promote from your area. And if you haven't already, sign up to follow our various social media pages. |
