Weekly Letter From Our Pastor

Pumpkin Sunday - September 24th
We've had Miracle Sunday, Kickoff Sunday, Thank-An-Officer Sunday, this week it's f Pumpkin Sunday!  Wednesday the CORE kids harvested a few thousand pounds of pumpkins while out at the home of LW ministry partners Mark and Diane Bowers.  A trailer-full of these beautiful babies will be waiting for you at church on Sunday, and for a donation to support the work of the LW Mission Team, you may take one home!

Sunday Church:  "Overcomer:  Comparisons"
Mark Twain once said, "Comparison is the death of joy."
I remember as a young boy getting my first new bicycle.  It was a beautiful, deep purple sting ray with big knobby tires and a much-too-long banana seat.  I loved that bike! A lot! Until the day about two weeks later when my buddy across the street came home with a brand new 5-speed Schwinn touring bike.  That was the precise moment I went from happy to miserable in about .8 seconds.
Sunday we kick off our new fall, "Overcomer" preaching series, by focusing on something way too many of us fall prey to:  the curse of comparisons.  Twain was right. Comparison is the death of joy.  And for that matter, just about anything else we hold dear:  family, spouse, job, life...you name it.  How do we overcome losing ourselves in the practice of constantly making unhealthy comparisons?  We're going to start by turning to some words of St. Paul in 2 Corinthians 10.12 and see how they can direct us in staying centered when the perils of comparison threaten to rob us of the joy God intended for our lives and the home of faith we call church.  Our theme this weekend:  "Overcomers:  Comparisons"

N ew Fall Preaching Series: Starting Sunday, September 24th

Living Water: Thanksgiving Bonus
We took our children on a drive last weekend.  While the destination was the ice cream store, all along the way they kept remarking about the beauty of the area in which we live.  Thank you God, for the reminder that we are so blessed to live in such an incredibly beautiful part of the creation!
JAM (Jesus And Me)
Little Jammers- Mrs. Schmidt
Middle Jammers- Mrs. Harder
Big Jammers- Mrs. Ebner
Each week the big and middle jammers will come home with a family fridge fun sheet. The sheets contain fun activities as well as important verses to look up in the Bible and discuss as a family. Hang the sheet on your fridge each week to help your family connect to Jesus, memorize God's word and dig deeper into what God's word has to say about your lives. Each week our little jammers will come home with a Family Fun time magazine. These magazines provide fun ways for you to reinforce the week's bible stories at home with your preschoolers.

GROUPS
Change happens in circles, not rows.  That wisdom is given expression best in the groups we form at Living Water where life is shared with a few trusted companions on the journey.  This fall I'm inviting each of you to consider starting or joining a group at Living Water.  Financial Peace, Women's Wednesday evening study, Women's Monday evening study, Fermenting Faith, Women's Small Groups....in addition to the one you are thinking of starting but have just been waiting for the right time or nudge.  God needs you to be the spark that lights the fire for change in the world that God loves and where you live.  Questions?  Give me a call!  - Pr. Ned

New Women's Group:
"Living A Life Of Worship"

Starting in October, Lindsey Kolpack will be leading a new group through Sarah Young's, "Living a Life of Worship," an excellent resource for discovering how thankfulness and worship always open the door for entering into God's presence and blessings. Even the most routine part of the day can be a spiritual act of worship when you are living close to God, and seeing from His perspective will allow you to truly be able to "give thanks in all circumstances" (1 Thessalonians 5:18).  Sign up at Clipboard Central to purchase a book & become part of this 8-week study!
