Weekend Lineup
Raise the Roof, Raise Your Stein, Raise Some History
Wow! Another jam-packed weekend that may require a coin toss to see which event you attend. I'll be at the Raise the Roof Fundraiser at Twin Sisters Dance Hall in Blanco on Saturday. Proud to sponsor the appearance of the Ennis Czech Boys. Music starts at 11 with great country, zydeco, and polka music. ECB takes the stage about 3 pm.

Way up North (Texas) Fort Worth and McKinney invite you to raise a stein to celebrate Oktoberfest. Great music at both festivals. McKinney, celebrating its 10th year, has all the chicken dancers gather at 8:30 pm Friday and Saturday to perform Texas' biggest Chicken Dance. Enjoy music by Brave Combo, Czech & Then Some, Alpine Village Band, Alpenmusikanten, Royal Klobasneks, and Auf Geht's. Fort Worth features music by Brave Combo, Alpenmusikanten, Alpine Village Band, Das Ist Lustig, Off the Grid, and Terry Cavanagh & Alpine Express. In the Houston area, raise a stein at the Liederkranz Hall Saturday night as they celebrate Oktoberfest with the TubaMeisters, German food und bier. Not sure if they'll have steins, but I know they'll have bier at the Goodtime Polka & Waltz Club dance in New Braunfels Saturday night with the Czech Melody Masters.

On Sunday, the Wendish Festival in Serbin will feature music by TubaMeisters. Worship in English and German at historic St. Paul Lutheran Church, one of the painted churches of Texas. Learn about Wendish history, enjoy the homemade noodles and coffee cake!

WEEKLY LAUGH
Three vampires went into a bar and sat down.
The barmaid came over to take their orders. "And what would you, er, gentlemen like tonight?"
The first vampire said, "I'll have a mug of blood."
The second vampire said, "I'll have a mug of blood."
The third vampire shook his head at his companions and said, "I will have a glass of plasma."
The barmaid wrote down each order, went to the bar and called to the bartender, "Two bloods and a blood light."
