PUPPY MILL DOGS NEED YOUR HELP ONCE AGAIN!

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you who have submitted comments to the Missouri Department of Agriculture requesting that they preserve all current regulations on puppy mills. Because of your efforts, over 2,200 comments have been submitted to the Department - the overwhelming majority from animal welfare advocates supporting the current regulations. Your efforts sent a clear and powerful message to the Governor and to the Department of Agriculture on the critical need for the strict oversight of puppy mills.

We now need you to contact the United States         Department of Agriculture

Currently USDA automatically renews licenses for commercial dog breeders on an annual basis regardless of how bad the facility is or how many violations the breeder has accumulated. USDA is now proposing to remedy this problem by refusing to renew licenses of substandard breeders but at the same time, proposing to only require breeders to renew their licenses every 3 - 5 years instead of once a year. USDA is asking for your input on this matter.

Please ask USDA to stop renewing licenses of substandard dog breeders and to continue to require dog breeders to renew their licenses every year .

You can be certain that the puppy millers will be inundating USDA with their comments, begging the Department not to review their history when it is time to renew their licenses!

You can submit your comment to USDA by going HERE and clicking on the blue "COMMENT NOW" button in the right hand corner.

Here are some sample comments that you might consider submitting to USDA:

Thank you for sharing your valuable input with USDA!

 Outreach and Education

In addition to working full time on enacting, protecting, and defending legislation, the Alliance also supports our partner advocate organizations while continuing to raise awareness and educating the public about the plight of animals in Missouri. But we don't do it alone - you, our supporters and volunteers - are an awesome part of the equation. Because we are NOT just a group of "animal lovers"; we are a growing contingency of humans who take animal welfare seriously - while enjoying some fun moments along the way.

Animal Welfare Certification Program

Alliance Executive Director Bob Baker, guest presenter

Animal Welfare isn't a just a moment- it's a  movement . And it's a movement that is gaining traction, propelled by people like YOU who support humane laws for animals and believe that compassion applies to all creatures.

Did you know that St. Louis Community College offers Animal Welfare Certification classes? Presented in partnership with the Humane Society of Missouri (HSMO), the APA Adoption Center, and the St. Louis County Animal Care and Control, these classes are open to anyone who is interested in the well-being of animals - be that by means of volunteer work or in pursuit of a career in animal welfare. Classes can be taken individually or as part of a certification program. In fact - there are two remaining class dates this Fall which you can click on below, to register:

(Alliance Exec Director Bob Baker will be one of several guest presenters)
