Thank You for Your Support
Mini-THON
We received the following letter from the Four Diamonds Fund:

"Thank you for supporting the Four Diamonds Mini-THON® at York Catholic High School. The $21,983.59 your students raised will fund life-saving research and world-class care for children and families fighting pediatric cancer. Research is the only hope for a cure, and your school's efforts make our research possible.

Last year, more than 90,000 students in 265 schools raised an incredible $6,461,295.50 through Mini-THON® by applying what they've learned in the classroom to plan, promote and implement a major fundraising event -- all with a passion for helping other kids and giving back to the community. These remarkable students are developing leadership skills, sharing their personal talents, and empowering their fellow students to accomplish one goal...conquering childhood cancer.

On behalf of the team at Four Diamonds and Penn State Children's Hospital whose work is supported by Mini-THON®, thank you for believing in our mission and for helping us build the next generation of leaders and philanthropists. With your continued support, together we will conquer childhood cancer."

Mattress Sale
The Mattress Sale Fundraiser held last month was a huge success!  Twenty-six mattresses were sold which translated to a $2,375 donation to the Athletic Association from the My Mattress Fundraiser company.  Thank you to everyone who purchased a mattress and thanks to those who helped spread the word to your friends.   Ginny Becker of "My Mattress Fundraiser" (right) is shown presenting a check to representatives of the YC Athletic Association, LeAnn Citrone, Rick Luckman, and Mark Andrasi.
Reconciliation
The York Catholic community will have the opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation on September 28-29 from 9 AM-12 noon.  Several priests from the York Deanery will be available to hear confessions.  This is a great chance to begin the new school year with a "clean slate" spiritually.  Pope Francis urged, "Everyone say to himself: 'When was the last time I went to confession?'  And if it has been a long time, don't lose another day!  Go, the priest will be good.  And Jesus, (will be) there, and Jesus is better than the priests -- Jesus receives you. He will receive you with so much love! Be courageous, and go to confession."
Speaker to Help Students

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) is hosting Dave Snyder, drug and alcohol counselor with True North Wellness Services, to speak to students who are interested in learning what to do if someone they know is abusing drugs or alcohol.  He will be speaking Wednesday, September 27, from 7:40-8:10 AM in the lecture hall.  All students are welcome to attend.
Futures Band Camp
York Catholic is hosting an Elementary Marching Band Camp on Saturday, September 30, from 8 AM-2 PM for any 4th, 5th, or 6th grade student who has played a band instrument for at least a year or who would be interested in color guard.  Students will have the opportunity to play level-appropriate Marching Band music, as well as learn basic drill techniques, and basic color guard techniques with a little fun thrown in. A mini-show for parents will take place at 1:45 PM. Lunch, snack, flipbook, lyre, and music will be provided. Cost is $25 per child, $40 for 2 children, $55 for 3 children.  Please bring a refillable water bottle, comfortable sneakers, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, and comfortable clothing.  Please register by September 22 by clicking here or contacting Cecelia Mezza at  [email protected]   or 717-846-8871 x224.

Any 6th grade band student who attends a parochial school is welcome to play with the York Catholic Marching Band in the stands at the October 13 football game.  You do not need to attend the mini camp in order to play with us.  Please email Ms. Mezza if you are interested. Report time is at 5:45 PM in the YC Band Room. Students can leave at halftime or stay for the full game.
