Over 430 volunteers came out to help beautify the landscapes at six of our schools for the 4th Annual Folsom Community Service Day.

Thanks to the generosity of the city of Folsom, Lowe's Home Improvement and community volunteers
Blanche Sprentz Elementary, Folsom Hills Elementary, Sandra J. Gallardo Elementary, Folsom High School and Vista del Lago High School all got landscape beautification makeovers this past Saturday 9/16.

VIDEO: Sisters highlight importance of attending school daily
September is  Attendance Awareness Month, which encourages school communities to reiterate the importance of students attending school daily which contributes to their academic success.

We decided to talk with two students from Cordova Gardens Elementary school that are sisters, Savannah Koppel, 5th grade and Abby Koppel, 3rd grade who both have perfect attendance records.

The Koppel sisters offered fellow students and their parents tips on how to get to school on time and every day. Click here to watch the video and see what Savannah and Abby have to say. These students both excel in school.
Folsom Girl Scout Troop 3208 donates books to FCUSD
Folsom Girl Scout Troop 3208 worked hard over the summer to collect book donations for our school district to earn their Bronze Award.

The troop ended up collecting over 1,700 books to donate. Their original goal was 400.

The girls donated books to both Theodore Judah and Blanche Sprentz Elementary Schools. The rest of the books were dropped off at the district office last week to be used in our FCUSD Community Readers Program

The majority of the girls in Troop 3208 are students at Sutter Middle School and Folsom Hills Elementary, so this was a good way for them to give back to their school community.
One simple form could increase funding for your school
Does your child attend one of the following schools?
  • Cordova Gardens Elementary
  • Cordova Meadows Elementary
  • Cordova Villa Elementary
  • Mills Middle School
  • Peter J. Shields Elementary
  • Rancho Cordova Elementary
  • White Rock Elementary
  • Williamson Elementary
If so, every student in your school receives free meals. However, your school is asking that you  complete an "alternative income eligibility" form for your school.

This is not an application for free or reduced meals. This ensures your school receives the most amount of funding available from the state, which is used to increase services for your school, including intervention teachers, academic coaches, special programs, technology, field trips and more!

We need your help: Without everyone's participation, your school may not receive all of the funding it is entitled to from the state - meaning fewer services for our students.

Confidential: We will never share your information with anyone. Our system is confidential, and you can return your form in a sealed envelope if requested. You also can fill out the form online in the privacy of your home .

Complete the form: Click here to complete the form online, or call your school. You may also call our Categorical Programs department at (916) 294-9000.
