Tailgate: Special Guests Help Fire Up the Crowd
Warrior spirit revved to full throttle on Friday afternoon at the annual Tailgate Pep Rally. The Varsity cheerleaders pumped up the crowd as teams and coaches were introduced.

Fourth grade student Madeline Jones and fifth grader Dig Curtis were the special guests. Madeline, Lakehill's "Cheerleader for the Day," performed with the Varsity squad at the Pep Rally as well as at the game Friday night.

As the "Warrior for the Day," Dig joined the football team for the Pep Rally, where he received his special team jersey.

Lakehill held its annual Tailgate Party on Friday evening before the Warriors' Varsity Football home opener against Founders Classical.

Hundreds of fans gathered at the Warrior Athletic Complex to enjoy the pre-game festivities. Students and faculty wore their Roll Tribe t-shirts provided by the PFC. The Lakehill Dads' Club fired up the grill, preparing more than 900 hot dogs to feed the hungry crowd.

The opportunity to be Lakehill's "Cheerleader for a Day" or "Warrior for the Day" is offered to the highest bidder each year at the Parent Faculty Club Benefit Auction.

Who's New?
Lakehill Welcomes Bradley Neyland
After coaching last year at Lakehill, Bradley Neyland  joins the faculty full time, teaching fifth grade World Geography, seventh grade Ancient Civilizations, and eighth grade American History. He also serves as a Fifth Grade Class Sponsor and coaches the Boys Varsity Basketball team.

Now in his fourth year of teaching, Neyland previously taught at Seagoville Middle School, while coaching Varsity Basketball at Lakehill. Originally from Baton Rouge, Neyland holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University.

Neyland stays active with golf, volleyball, and fishing. He enjoys relaxing with his wife and his dog. True to his roots, he is passionate about LSU sports, enjoys going home to see his family, and is perfecting his Cajun recipes.

Neyland is passionate about using sports as a way for students to learn important qualities and life skills that will help them become outstanding people, including handling success and failure. He draws from sound advice: "You will never achieve perfection, but if you work really hard to achieve perfection you may achieve greatness." With this adage in mind, he is most looking forward to basketball season and leading his Warriors to the playoffs.

"I have had opportunities in other fields, but working with young people and getting to coach them and help them grow is truly one of the greatest joys of my life. I come to school everyday happy about what I get to do and I think that beats just about anything."

Neyland is thrilled to be working at Lakehill, and credits the welcoming environment and the involvement of the students for making it unique. "Everyone has only nice things to say about this place!"
