HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF
PRACTICE-A-THON 2017

PRACTICE-A-THON ANNOUNCEMENT

After two major hurricane disasters in our country, and more on the way, our hearts go out to those affected by these events.  If you would like a way to help people affected by these disasters within our Suzuki community, the Suzuki Association of the Americas has two ways you can help families like yours.  You can give a one-time gift to Suzuki Hurricane Relief Fund at: https://suzukiassociation.org/suzuki-hurricane-relief/

However, if you'd also like to do some good for your playing, while raising funds for those in need, consider joining the Practice-a-thon movement!  These funds are being raised by SAA in coordination with the North Texas Suzuki Association and the Southeast Texas Suzuki Association.  Funds will support teachers and families in the Greater Houston area, affected by Hurricane Harvey.  Practice-a-thon packets will be provided by us both online and at the front desk. We will collect all funds from you, and send to the Suzuki Association of the Americas in early November.

If you'd like to participate, just follow these easy steps:

1. Download & print  PLEDGE FORM & PRACTICE LOG.
(extra copies available at the front desk)

2. Ask family & friends to sponsor your practice based on how many minutes you practice each day between September & October.  Have sponsors fill out the Pledge Form with all requested information.

3. Keep track of your practice on the calendar in the packet, including time spent in lessons, home practice, group classes, school band/orchestra rehearsals, and concerts.  Basically, any time you spend playing your instrument.  Have your parent initial the practice time you enter.

4. Contact sponsors at the end of October to collect outstanding pledges, and bring these funds to the front desk.  Cash or checks only, please.  All checks must be made out to the Music & Dance Academy, so that we can send one check to the Suzuki Association.  All pledges money must be received no later than November 6.

5. Please thank your sponsors with a card or email.

We will plan to acknowledge those of you who are participating at the Halloween Recital on October 28, so do let us know if you are planning to enter the Practice-a-thon!  Thank you for considering this event that will help others while solidifying your practice routine in the new school year.
