AFC MEMBERS MURAL UPDATE

AFC SILENT SKIES MURAL

CALLING ALL MEMBERS:

281 SPECIES CLAIMED BY 104 ARTISTS

397 SPECIES REMAIN

Join us now in this exciting and collaborative project. Over 100 AFC members are already participating and we need you NOW!

In addition to recruiting more members to participate, we're encouraging all members who have already completed paintings, to register additional species. As of this email, nearly half of the mural has been reserved but there are still 397 endangered bird species remaining and available out of 678.  Many thanks for your support and participation.

In case you missed the notice, earlier this year we made a call to all AFC members to participate in the creation of  a collaborative "Mega Mural" composed of individual 8" x 8" paintings of the 678 endangered species of birds of the world. The 100-foot artistic creation, titled  "Silent Skies", will be installed as the artistic centerpiece at the Vancouver Convention Centre for the 27th International Ornithological Congress ( www.iocongress2018.org ) and for the 2018 Artists for Conservation Festival, August 19-26, 2018.

Some key points about this project:
  • No entry fees to participate;
  • Revenue opportunity for artists (from original/print sales) ;
  • Raises funds for bird conservation;
  • Supports AFC youth education program;
  • Participate in the world's largest bird art installation and contribute to the centrepiece of the world's most important bird event;
  • International tour planned;
  • Opportunity for sculptors to participate.
