Kennerly Cup Golf Tournament

2018 General Assembly Commissioners Needed!

Salem's Stated Clerk reports that only one application for the 223rd General Assembly (June 16-23, 2018) has been received. Please identify those in your churches and ministries - ministers and ruling elders alike - who have a desire to fulfill their ordination vows to serve actively in the governance of the higher councils of the Church. Application forms are on Salem's website, and the deadline is October 6.

Faith Presbyterian Church of Greensboro is celebrating it's 60th Anniversary on October 28 & 29, with a Saturday reception from 3-5 pm and worship 11 am worship on Sunday.

Medical Mission to Chiapas

INFO FOR UPCOMING MEDICAL MISSIONS TO CHIAPAS - Medical caravans are scheduled for Chiapas, Mexico for October 2017. Week 1 is 09/30/17 - 10/08/17; Week 2 is 10/07/17 - 10/15/17. These two weeks will be to a village. Medical caravans are scheduled to the Manos de Cristo clinic in Ocosingo, Chiapas, Mexico, in late January & February 2018. Week 1 is 01/27/18 -  02/04/18; Week 2 is 02/03/17 - 02/11/18. Cost is $500/week plus airline cost. Medical care provided will be Primary Care. Participants needed are physicians, nurses willing to evaluate patients, PAs, Nurse Practitioners, Spanish translators and non-medical worker bees. Bethany - Graham Celebrates 125th Anniversary!

2017 marks the 125th Anniversary for Bethany Presbyterian in Graham. As a culmination of the year-long celebration, Presbyterian Church (USA) Stated Clerk J. Herbert Nelson  will be preaching on September 24th. Participating in worship that day also will be noted singer/songwriter/storyteller/author David LaMotte. Thomas Tewell Seminar

On Monday, October 2 Rev. Dr. Thomas Tewell will lead a Seminar at First Presbyterian Church of Thomasville, beginning at 5:30, reflecting with pastors on the 10 years that he has led Macedonian Ministry, where he has had the privilege of working with over 400 pastors from 19 different denominations across America. Together with his staff he has learned a lot from listening to these pastors and church lay leaders about the marks of a healthy church in a challenging time to be the church in our society.   His talk will be tailored for pastors and for church lay leaders and is titled, "The 4 Questions that Healthy Churches Ask." Dinner is included with the $15 registration. Child care is available.

Little Big Tent Coming This Fall

The Rev. Rick Ufford Chase will lead us at The Little Big Tent, October 28th. Rick is co-director with his wife Kitty of Stony Point Center. Rick is also the Executive Director of the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship, and he served as the Moderator of the General Assembly from 2004 to 2006. Our committees will offer workshops that will help us focus on and celebrate the 500th anniversary of The Reformation. See the FLYER for more information.  We will use his book, Faithful Resistance: Gospel VIsions for the Church in a Time of Empire as our book study leading up to the event.

223rd General Assembly

The 223rd General Assembly (2018) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) will be held in St. Louis, Missouri -  June 16 - 23.The GA meets biennially in even-numbered years and consists of commissioners elected by each of its 173 presbyteries. The GA is full of activities: business sessions, committee meetings, an exhibit hall, daily worship services, and mission tours sponsored by the  Committee on Local Arrangements. The assembly acts on hundreds of items of business, which it receives through the reports and recommendations of various assembly entities, and through overtures from synods and presbyteries.
