Smart Business Tips
Power through Your Mid-Week Slump
If your business has you worn out by mid-week, give yourself a little pick-me-up to spur motivation. While the weekend is often considered the time to relax or reward yourself, it seems a long way away when you are getting up Monday morning, so plan something every Wednesday that you can look forward to.

Whether you simply treat yourself to some frozen yogurt or make dinner plans with friends, planning activities that you enjoy and scheduling them throughout the week will help you look forward to every day, instead of having to tough it out until Friday.

Federal Court Invalidates New Overtime Rule
The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas has granted summary judgment for a diverse coalition of 55 business groups, led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Plano Chamber of Commerce, challenging the U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) redefinition of exempt employee qualifications. The decision effectively nullifies the DOL rule in its entirety. Had the rule gone into effect, it would have more than doubled the minimum salary level for exempt white collar employees from $455 per week ($23,660 annually) to $913 per week ($47,476 annually).
