Hawaii Utility's 100% Renewable Energy Plan Gets the Green Light
Hawaiian Electric Companies, tasked with powering multiple island grids with 100 percent green energy by 2045, has finally secured regulator approval for a plan to get there -- as long as it includes customers and third parties in the mix. On Friday, the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission approved (PDF) the utility's Power Supply Improvement Plan, or PSIP, a sprawling document that contains the recipe for hitting the state's 100 percent renewables mandate by 2040, five years ahead of schedule. More

Solar Leads a Recovery in Global Clean Energy Investment   
Global clean energy investment has rallied from a months-long slump, thanks to solar. The second quarter of 2017 saw $64.8 billion invested in clean energy around the world, up 21 percent from the first quarter of this year, according to the latest figures from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF). This marks the highest for any quarter since Q2 2016.The financing of two enormous photovoltaic projects in the United Arab Emirates helped to drive a recovery in global clean energy investment. More

China Adds Record 24.4 Gigawatts Of New Solar In First Half Of 2017
  China installed a record 24.4 gigawatts worth of new solar capacity across the first half of 2017, according to new figures from the country's solar PV association, a new year-on-year record of 9% up on 2016's own record installation numbers. The China PV Industry Association (CPIA) has released its latest figures for the country's solar installations, and it is big news and good news for the solar industry.
