The
Chairman's Corner
by Jason M. Shepherd
|
This year is already an historic one for special elections. With spring dominated by the special elections for Georgia's Sixth Congressional District and the 32nd State Senate District, we thought we'd seen the last of them, until a new round of resignations for the Governor's race hit a few weeks ago.
Last week was candidate qualifying for the special election to fill the senate seat vacated by Hunter Hill who is running for governor.
The five Republicans who qualified for the Nov. 7 special election are:
Leah Aldridge;
Matt Bentley;
Kathy Eichenblatt;
Charlie Fiveash; and
Leo Smith.
Contact and more information can be found
here.
This is a critical seat to keep and the Cobb County Republican Party will be gearing up for a December runoff should the contest come down to one of our Republicans versus one of the Democrats who qualified for the race.
The problem is the Democrats think they can take this seat given how close they came last November and will be throwing everything they can to try to flip it to embarrass Hunter Hill and the GOP.
We don't plan on letting them!
Planning and executing grassroots campaigns is expensive work as it depletes resources and takes time away from planning fundraisers. Your donation can make a huge difference in making sure we keep the 6th Senate District RED!
Have a great Republican week!
Yours in Freedom,
Chairman, Cobb GOP

This month the Cobb YRs are please to welcome the K Sierra Leone from Convention of States Action.
Convention of States Action is a non-profit organization founded for the purpose of stopping the runaway power of the federal government. We believe Washington, D.C., is broken and will not fix itself. The federal government is spending this country into the ground, seizing power from the states and taking liberty from the people. We have a solution that is as big as the problem! Article V requires that 34 states pass resolutions to call a convention of states on the same subject, before the meeting will be called. We are working with state legislators around the country to call a convention for a specific subject: Limiting the power and jurisdiction of the federal government.
Goal: Convention of States Action (COSA) seeks to urge and empower state legislators to call a convention of states. Delegates to the convention will have power to propose amendments to the Constitution that would curb the abuses of the federal government. Article V of the Constitution gives them this power; the COS Project will give them an avenue through which they can use it.
K. Sierra Leone, Georgia State Director, join the Georgia Leadership Team in February 2017 and has been a long time supporter of Convention of State. She has accepted our invitation and looks forward to the opportunity to come speak with us about Convention of States.
There might also be a chance to hear from various campaigns about this upcoming election cycle.
