In the world of sports "three-peat" is a term for winning three consecutive championships. Recently, North Penn School District (NPSD) earned our own sort of three-peat in the world of school finances. I am extremely proud to announce that for the third year in a row, the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International awarded NPSD with its Meritorious Budget Award for excellence in budget presentation during the 2017-2018 budget year.
The Meritorious Budget Awards (MBA) program promotes and recognizes excellence in school budget presentation and enhances school business officials' skills in developing, analyzing and presenting a school system budget. After a rigorous review by professional auditors, the award is conferred only on school districts that have met or exceeded the program's stringent criteria.
There are many people involved with budgeting here at North Penn who should take pride in their work which resulted in this award. From members of the business office to school board members to principals who develop school-level budgets, this award is a true reflection of our commitment to financial integrity.
Although we just approved the 2017-2018 budget a few short months ago, district staff will very soon be hard at work developing next school year's budget. It takes many, many weeks and thousands of hours to formulate our budget, which is more than $250 million this year. In the coming weeks a calendar will be finalized including the dates and times of public meetings on the upcoming budget. As always, we hope you will join us in this very important conversation.

Sincerely,
Curtis R. Dietrich, Ed.D.

Montgomery Elementary Rocks!
Folks at Montgomery Elementary have been hard at work on a school-wide unity project lead by guidance counselor Mrs. Toby Sterling and based on the book "Only One You" by Linda Kranz. The story celebrates uniqueness and explains to readers that they, in their own way, can truly make a difference in their own lives and in the lives of those around them. Following this theme, the entire student body and staff each painted their own rock to showcase their uniqueness. As a celebration of unity, each of the small rocks will be used to form one large pathway at Montgomery Elementary.
