November 2017 VOLUNTEER NEWSLETTER
Hi Team,

Christmas GIFT shifts are posted! Please check CERVIS regularly for up-to-date events. I am looking for 120 volunteers each day for both the 13 and 14 of December. Call your friends and come help with Christmas GIFT!

There are 8 open spots on our Sunday (Nov 5) box build! October Box Build was a fantastic show of teamwork! Thank you to all of those who called or emailed me to let me know you wouldn't be making it, and thank you to everyone who did make it out. We built 3100 boxes in 3 shifts, even without the bander for 2 of those shifts! You guys never fail to amaze me. November 4 and 5 will be our last 3000 box build, regular Box Build schedule will resume in January.

Total Volunteer Hours for October:  1413 hours

FISH Needs Volunteers!

Currently we need:

Telephone callers to contact clients and compile the list for deliveries and for delivery drivers.

4 Delivery Volunteers. We'd like to extend our service to add another delivery day each month, but each delivery day needs 4 volunteers.

1 Pantry Cleaner (once a month). We are in need of someone to clean the pantry once a month.  It can be done on your own time on a weekend, an evening, a Tuesday or Thursday.  It would not involve any heavy lifting, just wiping out fridges/freezers, sweeping/mopping, shaking out rugs, wiping open shelves, etc.

If you have anyone interested in any of those jobs, we would be most appreciative!

Please contact Raissa at [email protected]

Food Reclamation

Thursday sort and clean up - Stop by and help us provide better quality produce to our community!

Food Bank of Alaska accepts donations of produce from grocers around Anchorage. While this produce is often at the end of its usable life, Food Bank of Alaska gives this product a second chance by making it available to our Agencies and Mobile Food Pantry Clients.

We will be working in the warehouse and the cooler, dress appropriately (layers and closed toe shoes) and please remember children under 10 are not allowed in our warehouse for safety and liability reasons.

This project is in need of a long term-sponsor. If you have a group that would like a weekly or monthly commitment, please contact Sarah Radonich.

BOX BUILD

Join us in building food boxes for low income elders! Groups of volunteers work assembly-line style to pack 2200 food boxes on the 3rd Saturday and Sunday of the month. Shifts run 9 am-12 pm and 1 pm-4 pm.

Closed toe shoes and shirts with sleeves are required for this event.
CHILDREN UNDER 10 ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE WAREHOUSE AND WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE.

If you would like to sign up a group, please contact Sarah Radonich
 for assistance.
