Dear Academy Community:

We want to thank all of our parents who took the time to give us feedback on the annual parent survey. Because we value transparency and communication, we wanted to share with you the highlights from the questions we report to our Board and Los Angeles County (in parenthesis below, what parents/ students say nationally about their pubic schools, where available):

Culture and Communications
  • 100% say “my child is safe at this school” (compared with 74% of parents nationally)
  • 100% say the Academy is a “supportive and inviting place to learn”
  • 100% say are satisfied with Academy communications
  • 97% are “overall satisfied with school culture”
  • 94% say “overall, I like this school” (compared with 74% of parents nationally)

Academics and Intellectual Virtues
  • 97% say teachers are “high quality” (compared with 51% of students nationally)
  • 97% say the academics are “challenging” (compared with 50% of students nationally)
  • 100% believe the instruction promotes deep thinking

We are humbled by their vote of confidence in the Academy, especially since we know that there are areas to improve. One area is our after-school programming. We look forward to increasing our partnerships with our parents and our students to continue improving our after-school options. We also encourage our students to take a leadership role, after all, this is what colleges and employers are looking for.
