Dear MANS Member Schools, Staff, Colleagues, and Friends:
MANS recently signed on to a national coalition advocating for a national tax credit to expand education scholarships for low and middle income families.
My Kid's Future
is a national, non-partisan grassroots group of parents and advocates for children working together to encourage Congress and the President to pass a tax credit for Americans contributing to scholarship granting organizations.
Michigan families in particular should find this an enticing prospect as currently our state constitution bans any direct or indirect aid to nonpublic schools. Please review the information below, share it with your school community and TAKE ACTION NOW!

EdTaxCredit50 - My Kid's Future
|
The My Kid's Future project is an effort to enact a national education scholarship tax credit. This project is critical to demonstrating to the President and Congress that the tax credit has broad-based support. Each of your schools can play an important role in helping to build this grassroots movement. Below are a few ways your school community can become involved in this movement:
- Tell your parents and teachers about My Kid's Future.
- Share your content with My Kid's Future for posting on their website or Facebook.
- Identify parents and other supporters in your area that My Kid's Future can train to serve as contacts for the press in their area. My Kid's Future will provide all resources to train and book these parents on local radio and television to discuss the tax credit. My Kid's Future is aiming to have regional training sessions with potential supporters beginning as soon as possible.
- Provide My Kid's Future with cell phone video or written testimonials.
All videos, articles, testimonials and contact information can be sent to
[email protected].
As indicated, My Kid's Future welcomes submission of existing content you feel will demonstrate the need, impact and potential of the tax credit.

EngineerGirl Writing Contest on Engineering for Your Community
|
|
The National Academy of Engineering is holding a writing contest for students in grades 3-12 with a cash prize of up to $500. Students are to write about an infrastructure problem in their community and ask for change to occur, while making an engineering suggestion on how to remedy the issue.

The REMC Association of Michigan Day of Discovery

The REMC Association of Michigan and Discovery Education are partnering to bring Michigan teachers engaging professional development. In this full day workshop, you dig into Discovery's Spotlight on Strategies (SOS) series.
