Religious Education News
Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton

RE Mission

Our religious education program works
to create an accepting environment that empowers children and youth to explore their spirituality, celebrate diversity, and live our Unitarian Universalist values.
Family Ministry

We believe that families play a vital role in furthering this empowerment to explore and live our UU values. We are excited to support our families by offering ideas from the UUA's Tapestry of Faith program as well as graces and thought provoking questions related to the topics introduced during Sunday religious education classes. We hope you find this new initiative enjoyable and spiritually fulfilling for your whole family.
In RE Next Week
Our children and youth will be attending the multi-generational worship service about saints.  We have three saints pictured in our stained glass. We live in Saint Lawrence County. But what are saints exactly? We will explore our heroes of faith. We'll also feature scary music on the organ! Families are invited to come in costume.

For the Week of October 22, 2017
A Table Grace:
Loving Spirit,
Be our guest,
Dine with us,
Share our bread,
That our table
Might be blessed
And our souls be fed.
Chalice Lighting:
We light this chalice as a symbol of the spark of life which abides within us and around us.
May it be as a light in a dark night, a light in a window that welcomes the weary traveler home.
May it be as a light in the hand of a trusted friend, that guides us along the path.
May it be as the light in the face of one we love, bright with joy.
~ Rev Dr Linda Hart
Please consider utilizing these ideas to deepen and inspire your faith during the week.
Discussion Topic - During a shared meal, discuss in what ways are you a racial transformer.
UU Teach In Resources: Click here for lesson plans, suggested books and videos to explore white supremacy culture.
Inspired by our Moral Tales Class :  Take a story that your family is familiar with and take turns telling it from the perspective of the different characters. For example, tell the story of the Three Little Pigs from the perspective of the Wolf.
Traveling Chalice
Starting October 1, we will have (2) traveling chalices that you can sign out for a week.  Be inspired to live your faith all week.  Look in the social room for details or click here to learn more.
