Applications Open for PJ Our Way National Design Team!

Do you have a child that likes to read books, create videos, and write blogs? Consider applying to join the PJ Our Way National Design Team! PJ Our Way, the next chapter of PJ Library, is for children ages 9 through 11 years old. Every month, enrolled kids visit the website to choose from a selection of four high-quality titles that have been reviewed by a panel of PJ educators, parents, and kids.

The Design Team has early access to PJ Our Way books and creates videos, reviews, polls, quizzes, and blogs for the website. The team meets monthly via video conference with the National PJ Our Way Content and Program Coordinator. Design Team members gain writing, design, communication, collaboration, and analytical skills. They participate in skills-building workshops, form friendships with peers from all over the country, and develop quality content in a safe and fun environment.
PJ Library and PJ Our Way are available locally to residents of Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester Counties. They are programs of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, made possible through partnerships with local philanthropists and the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey.

For more information, a parent or guardian can contact Iris Snyder, Family Outreach Coordinator, at (856) 751-9500 x1118 or isnyder@jfedsnj.org .

Ghaida Rinawie Zoabi on Arab citizens and Jewish Arab Relations in Israel

The Inter Agency Task Force on Israeli Arab Issues and Jewish Community Relations Council invite you to a discussion on Arab citizens and Jewish Arab relations in Israel in 2017 with Ghaida Rinawie Zoabi.

Arab citizens make up nearly 21% of Israel’s population. Yet, most Arab and Jewish citizens have few opportunities for meaningful interactions. In recent years, the Government of Israel has launched massive efforts to increase Arab citizens’ economic participation that aim to develop Israel’s Arab communities and stand to shift Jewish-Arab relations. At the same time, recent attacks on the Temple Mount and controversial legislation in the Knesset have escalated tensions. How are Israel’s Arab leaders navigating these different trends? What has been the role of Arab leaders in advancing economic development efforts? What are the visions in Arab society for Jewish-Arab relations in Israel?
Join us for a discussion on these topics Tuesday, October 24 th , starting at 7pm in the Federation Board Room. The event is free for students and JCRC Patrons. Otherwise, $10 payable at the door for all other community members.

Seating is limited and community members are asked to confirm their attendance by Friday, October 20th to jcrcsnj@jfedsnj.org or by calling 856.751.9500 ext.1191 .

Take the pledge during Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Are you in an abusive relationship? Is someone you care about in a relationship that makes you worry about his or her safety?

There can be many warning signs if you are in an unhealthy relationship. Your partner may: Check your cell phone or email without your permission, constantly put you down, exhibit extreme jealousy or insecurity, isolate you from family and friends, or physically hurt you in some way. Other types of abuse may include possessiveness, extreme mood swings, or knowingly making false accusations to cause a disturbance in the relationship. None of these should occur in a relationship. Not one…not ever. Yet, the statistics tell a very different story.
