Join us for Sunday School as we continue to explore the meaning of baptism!
Sunday School teachers and children are invited to
process out with Miss Ann just as the Closing Hymn begins. We follow the "first" cross and bring each age-group to their respective classrooms. Parents are always welcome to join us! If your child does not wish to process out with Miss Ann, please bring your child to their classroom. Godly Play and Grades 1-3 meet on the Lower Level and Grades 4 and 5 meet on the main level.

so much to all who helped make Kenya Night at CCPK such a huge success.
It was a great evening for the Nyumbani children and their grandmothers. Over 100 people of all ages celebrated the culture of Kenya with fabulous food, beautiful crafts, textiles,
jewelry, wildlife, music and dancing!!
Special thanks to Tina and Rusty Cleland, Carol Jones, Eva Nye, Lee Puricelli, Liz Quinn, Virginia Sheard, Ann Enkiri, Ted Seale, Bob Quinn, Gail Marks, Barbara Ferry, Ron Leung, Charlie Briggs, and so very many more. Lloydie Zaiser and her Tuko Pamoja team brought us the exceptional creations of Kenyan artisans, and inspired us with the stories of the women who created them, all of whom are struggling for a better life.
We were blessed by the presence of many Kenyan neighbors, many of whom are members of Tumaini Baptist Church. With our Kenyan friends, we raised over $2,000 for Nyumbani to purchase crucial medical equipment and water catchment equipment; and $3,800 in sales through Tuko Pamoja, all of which goes directly to the artisans, women who most frequently use the money to send their daughters to school, and invest in their well-being and self-sufficiency. Finally, we sponsored 62 backpacks of supplies to school children. Thanks to all who participated. What's more fun than partying for an excellent cause?!
Parking Lot Re-sealing and Striping
The church parking lot closed due to re-sealing and striping on Thursday, October 26 and Friday, October 27th. Please do not park on the parking lot for those two days.

Parish Life:

Come sing with us!
Each month, from September through Easter, our choir holds what we call a "Third Thursday" evening rehearsal from 7:30 until 9:15 to prepare for special Christmas and Easter music (in addition to our regular Wednesday evening rehearsals). We would very much welcome additional singers for these special feasts of the church year, and hope that, if you (or friends, family members, neighbors, work associates, etc.) are at all interested in singing, and can be with us for Christmas Eve and/or Easter Sunday, that you will consider joining with our choir to sing in these special rehearsals. Come join us!
CPR & AED/First Aid Class
- Are you interested in learning CPR and First Aid or re-certifying a lapsed license? Two years ago, a group of people from CCPK took this class and received certification. We are making arrangements with the YMCA in Bethesda to offer another course at CCPK on a Saturday in late October or early November. If you are interested, please let Kurt Ellison know ([email protected]).
Prime Timers:
The Prime Timers will meet in the church undercroft on Thursday, November 2nd from 11:30 - 1:30 for social time, lunch, and to enjoy a speaker. The cost of the lunch is $10.00. Please RSVP to Nora Buckley at [email protected] or 301-564-0689 by Monday, October 30 to let her know you are coming and if you wish to order a lunch.
November 2 - Grit and Gusto: Farmerettes and Suffragettes on the Homefront in WWI. This new presentation highlights how women in Maryland rallied to new involvement and activism during 1917-1918.
Sunday, Nov 5: All Saints Day Festival Eucharist
and Baptism followed by a celebratory brunch after the 10:00am service. Plan to stay and enjoy wonderful food and fellowship. Dressing as your favorite saint is optional as we are reminded that we are all saints (and sinners!) We are also celebrating the generosity of our community as our stewardship season will be drawing to a close. More info to come.

We always give thanks to God for all of you and mention you in our prayers, constantly remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 22:15-22
The Pharisees went and plotted to entrap Jesus in what he said. So they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are sincere, and teach the way of God in accordance with truth, and show deference to no one; for you do not regard people with partiality. Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to the emperor, or not?" But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, "Why are you putting me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the coin used for the tax." And they brought him a denarius. Then he said to them, "Whose head is this, and whose title?" They answered, "The emperor's."
