Our fifty-year+ members will be honored on Heritage Sunday, but we won't reveal here all the special plans for Sunday, October 29. However, to further the Celebration, we are asking you all to share some memories of your times as a member of Oxford Presbyterian Church.
Who was pastor when you first joined OPC? Who was in the congregation with you? What was life like in Oxford at that time? What has changed about the buildings, services, and traditions? How has being a member of OPC influenced you? Please share your memories.
We'll include these memories in the next several issues of the newsletter. The deadline for the November issue is today, but don't let that stop you. Journey Through the Bible
Bible Study and Discussion will continue this Sunday. Enjoy a moment of fellowship in the lounge following worship. Around 11:30 p.m. join us in the Sanctuary where we'll begin our exploration of scripture together. All are welcome!

The OPW Women's Fall Gathering
The OPW Fall Gathering will be held Sunday, October 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the Molyneaux Lounge. Karen Shearer, Carol Burkhalter and Sue Wilson will describe their adventures from the Mission trip to Columbia. You've heard some, but by no means all the good stories. Robert Smith and Dave Wilson will present slides. There will be sweets and treats!

All Sr. High youth (9-12) are invited to a dinner and movie night at the Bartel residence on
Sunday, October 22 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
We will enjoy enchiladas while laughing along with Napoleon Dynamite. Come see if you can quote more of the movie than Mitch! Bring a dessert if you like. All are welcome!
The entire congregation is invited after worship on Sunday, October 29th to share a meal of soup and salad and desserts at the Seminary building from 11:30-1:30 PM which will be hosted by our Youth Group as a fundraiser for their summer mission trip to Charleston, S. C.
This will be our first youth group fundraiser for this year. Funds will be used to offset costs for the mission trip, spring youth retreat at the Kirkmont Center and for the summer PYC and junior PYC Kirkmont camps.

Changing Lives One Family at a Time
Please help Homeless Children in Butler County, Ohio
Are you aware that there are homeless Children in Butler County, Ohio? Many don't see homelessness in our area, but it does exist. Families who are evicted end up living in their cars, hotels, or couch surfing. In Butler County there are currently over 500 children on record as being homeless, representing hundreds of families struggling with homelessness.
As a community,it's time to do something about this.
Family Promise of Butler County located in Hamilton, Ohio began serving some of these families on September 11, 2016. Please Join the OPC Mission and Outreach Committee and become involved with Family Promise of Butler County.
On October 24 you have a chance to learn more about Family Promise. Please consider joining other OPC members by attending
"Keeping the Promise" Breakfast on October 24, 2017 in Hamilton for just one hour (7:45 am to 8:45 PM). The Continental breakfast is being prepared and served by Butler Tech Culinary Students. If you need a ride please or plan to attend please contact Dave Wilson (523-8848) or the church office (523-6364). Prior registration for this event is required. Creating a Healthy Community
Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
Tuesday October 24th, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders. Lunch will be provided.

Per capita or per head... is a set amount of money per member that congregations contribute to the larger Presbyterian Church (USA). This per capita is used for the expenses of our PC(USA) mission co-workers, leadership development, new church development, and General Assembly meetings to name just a few.
We urge every member to give toward your per capita of $46.26. Your contribution not only connects you with the work of the church throughout the world, this also allows finances reserved in 2017 to fully cover our congregational per capita to be used instead to support the missions of the Oxford Presbyterian Church.

Mosaic of Peace
When asked what he would do today if he knew the world would end tomorrow Martin Luther is said to have replied, "I would plant a tree". The olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane stand as beacons of hope through generations of uncertainty, war and even betrayal.
The Mosaic of Peace, presented by the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program, is a unique opportunity for you to walk among the olive trees in Gethsemane as well as meet the olive farmers of today who bridge the Israeli and Palestinian divide through working side by side in a fair trade company. This peacemaking conference from April 29-May 12 presents you with the occasion to touch the ancient stones of Solomon's Temple and meet the "living stones" who are today's residents of the land called holy.
Registration for the Mosaic of Peace ends on November 15.
