The election of the next Bishop Provisional candidate will be on the agenda for the Diocesan Convention on February 24, 2018.

Farewell to Randy Hollis
- This Sunday, October 22, will be Randy's last Sunday at Ascension; he is moving "back home" to Arkansas. There will be a brief leave-taking observance at the end of the 10:30 service. As prior of Ascension's Benedictine cell, recorder for the vestry, choir member, substitute organist, and a friend to all, Randy will be missed. Godspeed.

CAYA (Church of the Ascension Young Adults)
- Semi-monthly meetings are held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month - upcoming: 10/22, 11/12 and 11/26, and 12/10. Gather in the library during Coffee Hour (after the 10:30 service ends). All teens and young adults are welcome!

COMMEMORATION OF ALL FAITHFUL DEPARTED, aka ALL SOULS
– on Thursday, November 2, at 12:00, we will commemorate those members of the congregation who have died since last All Souls Day, as well as those whom you name to be commemorated.
Please contact the church office by October 31 to submit a name to be included for All Souls, or add names to the list posted in the parish hallway.

A VOICE RECITAL by
Dr. Caroline Gibson
,
accompanied by John Martin, will
be held in Ascension’s parish hall on All Saints Sunday, November 5, at 4:00 p.m. Dr. Gibson is Assistant Professor of Music, Artist in Residence, and Director of Opera/Musical Theatre Workshop at Kentucky State University. This free event is open to the entire community and will include works by Handel, Verdi, Puccini, and Strauss, so plan now to attend – and expect a real treat!

- Sunday, November 12 - Ecumenical Food Drive for the Emergency Community Food Pantry of Franklin County - on Sunday, October 29, CAYA will pass out RED BAGS to collect food for the Emergency Community Food Pantry of Franklin County. Handy bookmarks with a list of suggested items are included with the bags, which are also available on church tables. Please return filled bags to the parish hall as soon as possible; final collection is November 12. Thank you to everyone!
