SIX FILMS PREMIERING AT DOC NYC
A BETTER MAN (dir Attiya Khan & Lawrence Jackman) and NOTHING WITHOUT US (Harriet Hirshorn), two new acquisitions, will be premiering at DOC NYC!
A BETTER MAN (US premiere),
follows a series of intimate conversations between a woman and her former boyfriend when she confronts him about their history of domestic abuse.
The film will have one screening on Nov 15th.
NOTHING WITHOUT US (World Premiere),
demonstrates the vital role that activist women of color have played and continue to play in the global fight against HIV/AIDS. There will be one screening on Nov 10 and another one on Nov 11.

Viewfinders Competition which consists of 8 documentary features demonstrating distinct directorial vision.

SIBERIAN LOVE PREMIERING AT
Our new release SIBERIAN LOVE will have its US premiere in the upcoming Margaret Mead Film Festival. Siberian f
ilmmaker Olga Delane migrated to Berlin with her family. SIBERIAN LOVE follows Delane home to her community of birth, where she faces clashing ideals of modern and traditional womanhood. The film is a fascinating study of a rural community that raises questions about domesticity, gender expectations, domestic abuse, childcare, and romance.

WMM AROUND THE WORLD
Our Executive Director Debra Zimmerman just came back from Chile where we showed GEEK GIRLS (dir. Gina Hara) and OVARIAN PSYCOS (dir. Joanna Sokolowski and Kate Trumbull-LaValle). She also did a workshop for Chilean women documentary filmmakers with FEMCINE, as part of the American Filmmaker Showcase program, supported by the American Embassy in Chile.
Additionally, with the support of the American Embassy in Chile, Zimmerman
attended the Valdivia Film Festival. She spoke on a panel on Financing of International Documentaries in the US and did a workshop called HOW THE INDEPENDENTS DO IT IN THE US for the Valdivia Locarno Industry Academy.
The next stop is the
Antalya Film Forum, Turkey, where Zimmerman will be doing one on one meetings with producers and directors.
Lastly, Debra Zimmerman will be one of the speakers at the
Role of Women in the Audiovisual Industry panel at the
European Audio Visual Network.

POV BROADCAST AND MORE
The film will also stream after broadcast on LinkTV's website and on the Link TV Roku and Apple TV channels for 7 days.
This season of POV features SWIM TEAM (dir. Lara Stolman) on Oct. 2nd, MOTHERLAND (dir. Ramona S. Diaz) on Oct. 16th, and CAMERAPERSON (dir Kirsten Johnson & producer Marilyn Ness) on Oct. 23rd. All of these films were produced by our Production Assistance program.
