10/15 ~ circle of life
Here, we share our annual service that people love or hate: the Blessing of the Animals, in honor of St. Francis of Assisi who is celebrated this month. And, of course, Simba and Pumbaa and Timon from the Lion King all help share the importance of our seventh principle, Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part. And did I mention it's Blessing of the Animals???? So, bring your favorite non-human animal for a special blessing! As always, there will be an animal free zone for folks who are allergic or nervous around animals.

it's auction time!
Auction Night is Saturday, 10/21, and it's going to be a funtastic evening! Admission is free, as are the buffet and childcare. This year's theme is "Find the Superhero Within" and costumes are encouraged, but optional (it is rumored your emcee has found his inner speedster and will be dressing the part). With nearly 120 donations in so far, there will be plenty to bid on.

Remember, if you can't be there on the night, you can still bid; just get a friend to be your proxy bidder and we'll bill you for your winnings. To help us plan the evening, we'd really like you to preregister (even if you will have a proxy bidder).

We also need helping hands before, during and after the Auction. If you volunteer, you may earn Auction Bucks and use them to bid throughout the evening! Click here  to volunteer. You can also keep up with the most current auction news at the ASUUC Auction Facebook page.

affinity groups
Our affinity groups are open to all! There is no enrollment period and no fee required. Friends are welcome! These groups share a common interest and provide opportunities to connect and deepen our fellowship outside of Sunday Service. Perhaps one is for you? For more information, please click here.

last week
It was fabulous to be back downstairs after some new flooring installation!   Work will continue to progress as we move forward with this project.  Thank you to Jack Phairchyld for teaching and Linda Rossetti for assisting in the Air Element Class.  They continued to explore our 1st principle as they practiced with their ribbon sticks, did some role playing and explored the Beatitudes. Many thanks to Janele Johnson for teaching and Lori Salgado for assisting in the Fire Element Class as they explored the idea of questioning and our 4th principle as represented by a magnifying glass.  They discussed Maria Mitchell and how hard she had to work to question things back in the late 1800's, did a word search, and found some commonality with each other through playing Have You Ever...

Youth had their first Con of the school year. It was held at Jefferson Unitarian Church in Golden and the theme was Courage to Care. There were gaggles, caucuses, coffee house time and free time as new friendships were made and existing ones were strengthened. Remember no Youth Group this Sunday so we can all worship together for The Blessing of the Animals. See you back in Youth Group on 10/29 and remember to stay that day for Trunk or Treat immediately following church 'cause who doesn't want candy?
