Fall Grant Deadline October 13
The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation announces its third grant cycle for 2017 for local charitable nonprofits. Applications will be accepted through Friday, October 13, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. Grants will be awarded to organizations that enhance the quality of life in Linn County. Reading Into Success Chapter 3 Community Event October 3
Celebrate the successes of the first two years of Reading into Success in our
community and help us plan for the coming year on Tuesday, October 3, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Longfellow Elementary School, 2900 8th Ave, in Marion. Come for a light meal and share your ideas on how the community can get involved to support young children in their journey to reading proficiently and ongoing academic success. Register here.

Public Invited to Learn About Community Data Tool
The public is invited to a one-hour presentation regarding how to use an online data visualization tool that provides and compares housing, economic and demographic information about Cedar Rapids and 300 other cities across the country. The tool is designed to help municipalities understand their challenges and trends in the context of their peers. Join the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation, for a demonstration. We encourage leaders from nonprofit agencies, educational institutions, foundations and grantmaking organizations, financial institutions and government agencies to attend. Kids First has a Kyocera Mita KM 2050 copier/scanner/fax to offer to an organization. It has black and white functionality and is 10 years old, but it is still working well and continues to be an extremely low-maintenance machine. Even better, it's free.
