(Nashville, Tennessee...) - October 2, 2017 - The Grandaddy Mimm's Authentic Moonshine distillery in Blairsville opened its doors to huge fanfare last year and quickly became one of the top visitor destinations in Northeast Georgia. Saturday, October 7, 2017 has been set as the date for the one-year anniversary celebration. Distillery tours, local food vendors, free music and more will highlight the special day.

Located at 161 Pappy's Plaza in Blairsville, Georgia, distillery tours will begin at 11:00am. Moonshine samples, mixed moonshine drinks and shots will be served at the bar, and bottles of the famous 'shine will be available for purchase all day. Free music performances kick off at 6:00pm with Steven Phillips, followed by Blairsville favorite The Tom Floyd Band. At 8:30pm distillery owner Tommy Townsend will hit the stage with Waymore's Outlaws (former members of Waylon Jennings' Band) playing some good ole Outlaw Music.

The Grandaddy Mimm's Gift Shop, which features t-shirts, shot glasses, Mason jars, and more, also houses the restored covered wagon Townsend's grandfather used to transport corn, sugar and moonshine years ago. Guided tours show the process of how three simple ingredients - corn, water and sugar - are transformed into a potent liquid that until a few short years ago was illegal to manufacture.

Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and a picnic basket and be ready to dance, sing, and have a wonderful time catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.

The Grandaddy Mimm's performance stage has hosted several national music acts recently, including John Berry, Andy Griggs, Jamie O'Neal and others. Local and regional musicians regularly entertain at the venue.

Grandaddy Mimm's currently distills six products: 100-proof Corn Whiskey, 140-proof Mule Kickin' 140 and 40-proof Apple Brown Betty, Fresh Peach Cobbler and Wild Cherry Cobbler with Blueberry Cobbler coming soon.

Townsend's grandfather, Jack "Mimm" McClure was a notorious moonshiner in the area from the 30s through the 60s. He had a reputation for making one of the smoothest moonshines in the area, and folks knew him as a generous and kind man who shouldn't be crossed. Tommy was only two when Mimm passed away, but his legacy and his smooth moonshine recipe helped bring to market this successful new brand.

CNN profiled Townsend for an in-depth Grandaddy Mimm's business story, which was replayed on HLN. The Whisky Advocate Magazine, one of the foremost authorities on spirits, raved about Grandaddy Mimm's Authentic Corn Whiskey in a recent review: "Dry, dusty corn with some fruit flashing around, and an odd aroma of cracked limestone. Simple corn spirit, lightly sweet and clean, not hot (especially for 50%), and a smooth finish. As the company notes, this is a spirit for mixing, but it's a surprisingly easy sipper, if not overly rewarding."

"Drink Responsibly and Tithe on Sunday."
