An Evening with Poet David Lee

Former Utah Poet Laureate David Lee will return to the library to discuss and read from his work. Few poets working today have a keener eye for the complexities of small town life, mythology, and how the two blend together. Lee is the author of nearly twenty books and is professor emeritus at Southern Utah University.

Poems from the Grand Canyon

Writers Peter Anderson and Rick Kempa will read from and discuss their collection Going Down Grand: Poems from the Canyon. Peter and Rick co-edited the book, which is a collection of poems by sixty-one writers offering poetic perspectives on the Grand Canyon from the rim, the river, and places in-between. The book was a finalist for a 2016 Colorado Book Award.

Historian Mark Fiege will discuss the environmental history of the Untied States and its complex relationship with its national parks. Fiege is the author of The Republic of Nature and an editor for the collection National Parks Beyond the Naion: Global Perspectives on "America's Best Idea." Fiege is also the Wallace Stegner Chair in Western American Studies at Montana State University.

The evening will be presented in partnership with Utah Humanities Book Festival.

Advance Health Directives

During this free workshop, Jessica Walsh, R.N., and Katherine Williams, M.D., will discuss information on advance health care directives.  The workshop will help to answer questions about creating your own advance health care directive, reviewing or changing one you have, helping a friend or family member prepare one, and more.  
 
Presented in partnership with Grand County Hospice and and Moab Regional Hospital. 
Free Spanish/English Classes
 
Certified ESL teacher and former high school Spanish teacher, Leroy Webb, will offer free weekly Spanish/English classes in September and October in the library.
