REGISTER TODAY FOR OCTOBER 18TH CONNECTING OUR FUTURE
KICKOFF EVENT

Be sure and join Upstate leaders and interested stakeholders on October 18th for the kickoff to a year-long effort focused on increasing mobility and connectivity while reducing traffic congestion across the 10-county Upstate region.

Born from the Shaping Our Future Growth Scenarios Analysis, Connecting Our Future is an effort to create a regional vision and strategies for transportation, mobility, and connectivity in the ten county Upstate, led by Ten at the Top. The effort is being supported by the Connecting Our Future Coalition, made up of stakeholders representing various geographical areas and sectors.

The initiative will last for roughly a year, resulting in a regional vision document and related strategies for reducing congestion, moving people & freight across the region safely, and improving health and quality of life for Upstate residents by reducing emissions. Results of the initiative will be unveiled at a Roll Out Event to be held in Summer 2018. Visit the Connecting Our Future website for more information.

The October 18th event at the TD Convention Center will include breakout sessions looking at various components of connectivity and mobility as well as a keynote luncheon presentation by Carla Bailo, Assistant VP for Mobility Research & Business Development, Ohio State University. Carla helps coordinate Ohio State's involvement
as the primary research partner for Smart Columbus, a $140 million grant program to transform central Ohio into the nation's premier transportation innovation region.

The registration deadline is October 13th, so please sign up today to be part of the conversation on this critical Upstate issue.

TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE FOR
CELEBRATING SUCCESSES BRUNCH ON NOVEMBER 16TH
As in past years, Ten at the Top's final regional event of the year will be the Celebrating Successes: Great Things Happening Across the Upstate Regional Forum. However, different in 2017 is that instead of being held in the late afternoon, the event will be a brunch event from 11:30 am-1:30 pm on November 16th at the Greenville Marriott.

There are many individuals, organizations and businesses playing a role in making the Upstate a great place to live, learn, do business and raise a family. The Celebrating Successes event is an annual opportunity to celebrate some of the great things being done across the region.

The event will include the awarding of the Burdette Leadership Award and the Welling Award for Regional Collaboration. In addition, companies and organizations celebrating milestone anniversaries in 2017 of 20 or more years will be recognized.

Since 2013, the Celebrating Successes event has also included the awarding of the Hughes Investments Elevate Upstate Community Vibrancy Grants. A total of 16 communities and organizations have received more than $50,000 in funding to support vibrancy initiatives in the Upstate. There were 22 applications for the 2017 grants and the five finalists will each give a brief overview of their project before the recipients are announced.

Registration for the luncheon is now open and individual tickets are $35.

COACHING AND CAPITAL WORKSHOP HELD
On September 12th two of Ten at the Top's committees met for an interactive learning and connecting making luncheon. The Small Business Support Providers and Upstate Alternative Capital Providers Network met to meet one another and learn about business support services and non-traditional funding options available in the Upstate.

Attendees left with new contacts and knowledge of available resources that will help them serve the entrepreneurs and small business owners they interact with.

Prior to this event the two committees met separately to discuss their respective topics and learn about best practices.

If you are interested in learning more about the services and programs available to Upstate small business owners and entrepreneurs check out our directories on the Ten at the Top website. The Small Business Support Services Directory includes information that can help with forming a business plan, obtaining correct licensing, and more. The Alternative Source of Capital Matrix includes non-bank financing organizations, angel investors, asset base financing, and more.
TEN AT THE TOP UNVEILS REGIONAL ASSET MAPS
On September 26th Ten at the Top officially launched two interactive resource maps: one for housing and food programs for seniors and one for child well-being programs and services. In total the two maps include over 1,000 organizations ready to assist Upstate residents.

The maps were created by Ten at the Top's Child Well-Being Network and Senior Issues Group. The two groups are made up of volunteers who see the importance of ensuring all Upstate residents have an excellent quality of life. The maps can be used to search for necessary services and include address, phone number, website, a list of services offered, and driving directions.

Speakers at the launch included Hank McCullough, Ten at the Top's Board Chair; Paul Corbeil, Co-Chair of Ten at the Top's Human Potential Task Force; Carol Burdette, Executive Director of the United Way of Anderson County; and Darryl Broome, Director of the Lieutenant Governor's Office on Aging.

The interactive maps can be accessed on the Ten at the Top website by clicking Resource Maps from the top menu.
