Opening Days

Thank you for your help in achieving a smooth opening for the school year.

We look forward to an amazing year!

Remember to...
  • be patient with the bus schedule; delays often occur as the new school year gets underway.
  • return and/or update your child's emergency forms with changes, including e-mail, telephone, and address(es). School Messenger notifications are made according to the information provided.
Providing a Safe Learning Environment

As we return to school for the 2017-18 year, Dallastown Area School District remains focused on its top priority of safety and security. We remind the community that all visitors are required to produce a valid Photo ID prior to gaining admittance to a district school or building. The Raptor Visitor Management System retains visitor history providing easy retrieval for subsequent visitor access.

Consistent with the Child Protective Services Law and school board policy, clearances will be required for all district employees and specific volunteer categories. Relevant details can be accessed at:

A Dallastown Area School District Parent/Guardian-Student Emergency Reunification Plan provides a plan to get you and your child back together as quickly and safely as possible in times of an emergency. For details, access: Dallastown Area School District Parent/Guardian-Student Emergency Reunification Plan.

Your cooperation is appreciated as we work to provide a safe learning environment for students, faculty, and staff.
New Attendance Law and Requirements

The 2017-18 school year begins with updated attendance protocols and procedures to comply with new school laws. It is very important for children to develop habits of arriving on time and making school attendance a priority. Every instructional minute is critical to your child's success. Please partner with us to identify, address, and eliminate root causes and unmet needs that adversely affect your child's daily attendance. Thanks for your understanding and support.

Because We Have To

While it's preferred that parents/guardians administer medication at home, we realize that medication may have to be administered during the school day. In accordance with Pennsylvania School Code 510, Title 22, Sec. 12.41, Dallastown Area School District  Policy No. 210, Pupils, Medication requires that medicine be brought to the nurse's office by the parent/guardian or another designated adult.

Medication orders and parental consents must be renewed at the beginning of each school year and shall be accompanied by a completed Medication Administration Consent and Licensed Prescriber's Medication Order Form, accessible on the School Nurse link of your child's school.

Dallastown school nurse practices follow the Pennsylvania Department of Health Guidelines for Pennsylvania Schools for the Administration of Medications and Emergency Care.

Have a healthy year!
Attention!

The USMC JROTC program at Dallastown Area High School (DAHS) has received the MCRA award for the 3rd consecutive year, the 5th  since inception of the program in 2005.

Members of JROTC schools in the region participate in community service, extracurriculars, and a variety of competitions to accumulate points throughout the year. Programs with the most points at the end of a year are awarded the MCRA.

This recognition indicates that the Dallastown Area High School JROTC remains among the top JROTC schools in Region One. Congratulations, again!

Imagine . . . Whirled Peace!
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21

While that is the catch phrase for the Pinwheels for Peace Project, the project itself inspires communities to create and "plant" a pinwheel on Thursday, September 21st.

The use of the childhood symbol is to remind us of the simple and peaceful things in our lives; an easy way to express feelings and demonstrate that peace is something all of us desire.

Whether participating in a planned event or not, the No Place for Hate Committee encourages you to take  time this month to find a way to refresh your inner peace and live in harmony with the people around you as we work together, play together, and learn together in this great  community we call Dallastown Area School District.
