Prelude to Peace Week

Mindfulness and peace-related activities have been occurring in the Primary School throughout the semester. These activities lay the groundwork for Peace Week on March 19-23. The theme inspires empathy, kindness, compassion and leadership through collaborative, cross-grade level learning, and further reinforces the mindfulness initiative that is underway at EDS.

Day School Community Highlights

Hispanic Fiesta
Thursday, October 12
1:30 - 3:30 pm
Open to the entire EDS community (all grades, families invited)
Location: Traylor Family Atrium

As a culminating activity of our Hispanic Heritage Month cross-divisional projects, we will hold a truly special Fiesta, to celebrate all the wonders of the Hispanic world and to show-case our student accomplishments. This will be a wonderful event that we hope you will not miss! Please allow students to visit the different stations, learn about our world, explore, dance, eat and mingle at this Hispanic Fiesta.  We hope that you will join us for this fun, educational, and culturally rich activity!

Thank You!
A huge thank you to all who made puppy chow or donated ingredients! With your help, we met or exceeded all donation goals and our dedicated Friends volunteers finished making and bagging the puppy chow in one day!!

Yearbook Ads
The yearbook staff is already hard at work on the 2017-18 Landmark. Personal ads may be purchased for students in any grade. These send a special message to your students expressing how proud you are of their achievements, or they can be used as a sendoff to college, to high school, to middle school, or to the next grade in primary school. Business ads are also available and are a great way to acquaint Day School families with the products and services your business can provide.  Email  Kelly Kanetkar if you are interested in purchasing an ad.  The deadline to order ads is Friday, October 13.

Pancake Breakfast
Thank you to those who supported the National Honor Society's pancake breakfast this morning. We had almost double the customers! Between moving to the Atrium and the increased traffic, we ran into some challenges. We very much appreciate your patience, and we will revisit the details so our next pancake breakfast runs more smoothly. Thanks again!

This Week at the Op Shop

Op Shop Drop
Thursday, October 5
Bring your gently used clothing, jewelry, and household goods to the  Primary School parking lot during morning drop off on Thursday, October 5, and they will be donated to the Op Shop for you! The first Friday of each month is our designated Op Shop Drop.  This month, we will pick up a day early because students are not in school on Friday.

The Op Shop is a not-for-profit consignment and resale store established by Evansville Day School families to support school improvements, student scholarships, and general operations. Donations of clothing, jewelry, and household goods are always appreciated, and volunteer opportunities are available as well!

The Op Shop is located at  200 S. Green River Road.
