Letter from the President & CEO

Dear Members:

Fall is election and conference season in the Commonwealth.  The VMAPAC will be actively sharing information about Gubernatorial and House of Delegate candidates  over the coming weeks.  The VMA will be holding committee meetings and its largest event of the year - the Virginia Industry Forum.  These are tremendous opportunities for networking and best-practice sharing.  I encourage all members to be active in the coming weeks and join us in celebrating manufacturing in the Commonwealth.

Regarding elections, the VMAPAC will be distributing responses to Gubernatorial candidate surveys as well as a "Get Out the Vote" information series in the coming week.  To see a copy of the 2013 Gubernatorial election survey and the candidates' responses, go to http://vamanufacturers.com/election-questionnaire/,

Also, the VMA's flagship conference, the Virginia Industry Forum, and, the VMA's 95th Annual Meeting, are coming up
November 2-3 in Newport News.  The VMA has two days packed with supply-chain interviews, workforce solutions, digital manufacturing, national speakers on manufacturing productivity, a trade show and a fantastic evening reception.  We will also unveil the " Virginia MFG Competitiveness Plan and Index," which will measure VA against all 49 other states in 52 different areas ranging from utility rates to taxation.  These resources, and the suite of new VMA Member Benefits that will be announced, are not to be missed.

I look forward to seeing you November 2-3 at the Virginia Industry Forum.

Best Wishes,
Brett

Conway was joined by Jay T immons, President and CEO of the National Ass ociation of Manufacturers; Neil Wilkin, President and CEO of Optical Cable; Brett Vassey, President and CEO of the Virginia Manufacturers Association, as well as VMA members and regional business leaders.  Conway spoke on the future of modern manufacturing and the importance of national tax cuts and reforms.
Attention MFG Day Hosts - The Post-Event Survey Is Back!
For the third year in a row, Deloitte has created a post-event survey that Manufacturing Day Hosts can use to assess the impact of their events with attendees - and on the public perception of manufacturing more generally.

As in years past, Deloitte will compile results, provide analysis of the survey responses, and share the information in an infographic that will be published to mfgday.com.

To access the survey, Hosts should log in to their Host Dashboard. There, under the sub-head "Visitor Survey," is a link labeled "Go to Survey."

Host can simply distribute this link to any event attendees they want to participate in the survey. As a web application, the survey can be conducted on any smartphone, tablet, or computer.
